Honestly, the more I think about, Trumps decision and (poorly executed) negotiation to pull us out, and Bidens commitment to keep to that was probably a good thing.
The Afghan government we installed was never going to succeed, and the army was so obviously rotted that a swift collapse was certain.
I think the long-term second and third order consequences will probably end up being positive on net, but that is merely a optimistic hunch. Note the caveat there.
