Great win, but we beat a team who‘s best player is Terrance Ross. Gotta pump the breaks a little. Still this team is exciting and super deep
Even if we totally suck ass, the games will still be more fun than anything we saw in the last couple of years and we can then just add ANOTHER good young player in the next draft.

We should have started this project two years ago.

IMO, they wouldn’t be as sharp as they are now without the vets they had over the past two years. You give and take. Otherwise, you’ll look like the Rockets right now who have a bunch of young guys who can’t execute worth a lick.

Oh we'll beat the Nuggets. Probably beat the Mavs badly. Not sure about Lakeshow, but the Lakers likely win.

    Bucks gonna eat.

Spurs could steal the Lakers game. The Lakers perimeter outside of Lebron and Westbrook is terrible. Spurs also have a ton of young guys they can throw at Westbrook.

I am very confident we beat the Lakers.. Our pace is gonna be extremely difficult for them to keep up with. If our defense shows up, we should win going away suppose we don't the bed for whatever reason.

Good statement follow up game against the Magic.

You can tell the coaching staff identified the key issues regarding why they lost to them in preseaon.

Poeltl was very aggressive I want to say 1/4 of the way into the 1st and really set the tempo for the game with his performance dominating the offensive glass, his defense and court awareness.

Murray was up and down in certain areas throughout but a constant bumble of energy throughout

Keldon had some minor hiccups on defense but was bully driving into the paint and made some key mid range jumpers coming around screen. One looked like set play after a timeout which was nice.

White was a little cold at the start but after the 1st quarter really warmed up and solidified his presence with the lineups out there with heady plays driving, shooting and rotating on defense.

McDermott was a little sloopy during moments but he was very aggressive throughout and his overall movement with and without the ball just opens things up for everyone on the court. He really is the glue guy when he gets going and opens everyone elses game.

Eubanks had some fumbles with passes thrown his way, but I don't think those were his fault entirely a lot of those looks thrown his way were forced, thrown too low and too high for him to grasp. Overall he had an average game but his energy really kept the momentum going.

Forbes had a off night shooting and although he struggled moments on defense he did have a few plays on that end that disrupted the Magic from gaining rhythm. He got benched after the 1st half and that was well and good.

Lonnie didn't get going until the 2nd half I felt. He showed some awareness for teammates but often times a bit late. His relentlessness in not giving up on his shot was encouraging and began seeing them drop. His penetration as I mentioned throughout the game is annoying to watch for me personally because he just telegraphs "The path of least contact" an average defender just has to recognize this and not leave his feet right away and can force Walker into a bad shot at the rim. Other than that he put commenable effort on defense.

Vassell was the other notable mention player next to Poeltl that wins the Spurs this game with his defense and midrange game he showed in Summer League. Those 3 pt shots really just pour energy into his teammates and really got them going.

Had a KBD sigthing and he is had his moments is an excellent end of the bench reserve that really allows you to not be too concerned about pulling your starters and heavy rotation players early with a lead.

Landale with his passing and BBIQ has the potential after 15 games to take Eubanks Minutes.

Tre Jones really look good out there with his first minutes of the season. Finding minutes for him is going to be tricky but it's a good problem to have and one you can appreciate having when other guys are having off nights from the bench.

    Primo really looks promising.

The average age of the Spurs feels like it's ten years less than the Lakers. That's a team that will struggle against teams that move them around on defense a lot.

The Lakers are trash. Don’t believe the media hype. Yes they have LeBron and AD, but they also play Melo, Westbrook and Rondo. Their spacing is garbage. Go zone and run them off the floor. They the oldest team in the league and don’t have enough shooting

I therefore dub him Trigger Forbes... one way or another he's lighting it up ya know.. he either loads the clip and pulls the trigger or quite frankly makes you triggered...
I just wish he would load his clip with real bullets instead of blanks.

    Random Thoughts:

First half: A barrage of Wagner brothers complaining about foul calls. Not to be outdone, Lopez gets in on the action. DJ looked way less calm and poised compared to the preseason. Lonnie looked to have some positive energy/motivation/mojo. McBuckets may need to play 40 minutes to help with spacing.

Second half: Defense was impressive. Vassel looked better and better. Enjoy the victories when they come. But with some extra cohesion the defense should keep us in a lot of games. Great comraderie if not exactly great chemistry yet. I'll admit it's probably good Luka is off the team. Despite my gripes with his overall development and the process, I love how well everyone gets along and his flat affect would possibly drag the team down.

Devin Vassell . looks like he's taken his game to another level this season. His three and midrange game was deadly and was all over his man on D..

Good first win. Didnt let up in the 4th . Liked the fact the 3rd unit came in to seal the deal.

Everybody did well and it’s hard to choose who was the top performer tonight. Poeltl was a beast and rebounded like a madman. Dejounte did his thing defensively, and Vassell mirrored him there too. Lonnie provided a nice spark. Keldon was physical and scored in a myriad of ways.

I’ve got to agree with this, even though missing the playoffs again would surely frustrate guys like Murray, White, Poetl and even Keldon all of whom have had a taste of the playoffs before or Olympic compe ion and want to succeed sooner than later. Nevertheless, for us, it’s a good season to see these kids develop without DeRozan.

This is the main lineup that should get the most minutes throughout a game

    White/Murray/Vassell/McDermott/Poeltl

Agreed. That's why I feel they could win that game by just overwhelming the Lakers with their youth and speed/athleticism. Lakers looked slow and old the other night on the defensive end.

I know this Magic team sucks and all, but…Spurs biggest win of last season was by 26 points.

They just matched that in their first game.

    Just stating facts here.
