I understand Pop giving the guys who have been here awhile the first crack at playing time but I wish he’d be more willing to bench guys when they’re not playing well. He should find spot minutes for both Jock and Primo
Can someone help me understand why is Thad Young still on the team an gets playing time over Jock Landle? Thad Young doesn't even look to shoot or roll to the basket. Why is Primo not getting an burn instead of over playing White an Murray? It's easy to see Primo shoots better than both of them. Should I just get use to is tryna tank or something? I heard Sean Elliott say Purtel has a back to the basket game, why is he not allowed to do it?? If Purtel & Eubanks is in foul trouble, why isn't Jock playing to spread the floor? Maybe I got go many questions, idk.

Pop is definitely treating these opening games as an extended pre-season. I guess the luxury of not being a compe or is that you can do that. Eventually, as he always does, Pop will settle onto a rotation that he'll stick with, health permitting, but I want to say that can take up until the RRT historically. 12/15 is a big day for potential trades, and it's possible guys like Young, Forbes or Collins will be moved at that time. I certainly don't agree with every aspect of the rotation that the Spurs have been running with, but I am happy it's not set yet at least.
I agree that 12/15 will be an important date. I expect very different strategies if the Spurs are flirting with 0.500 at that point (12-15 with a ~0 point differential, or better) than if the wheels are falling off (9-18 with a -4 per game, or worse).
People here act like they don’t know how Pop coaches![]()
Easy answer and it's been the easiest of answers for yrs now; Popovich is still the HC for whatever reason.
There's no reason for Primo not to be playing. That boy can make fans happier, which can put more asses in the seats even in a rebuilding yr. An if Jock can spread the floor, why not play him. All this P&R with our bigs doing these 10ft push one hand shots.... Maybe I'm just trippin
This is the most exciting Spurs basketball since Manu retired. Sure, I’d like to see Jock, but not a big deal to me. In a few weeks we’ll see if he goes to Primo early, basically for three point shooting because it has been bad outside of McB. If it doesn’t improve, may even see Lil Weezy in short stints. Or not.
Right?
Peeps, let me clue you in: the 2021-2022 season isn’t for Primo. He’s getting a few spot minutes, because the gleague hasn’t started yet, but once it does, he’ll be in Austin, with the possible exception of part or all of the RRT, until their season ends in March. Then, he’ll be back up with the big club. His minutes at that point will depend on SA’s status.
He NEEDS to be in Austin. Their schedule is lighter, with only 50ish games, so there’s more time for practices, and individual instruction. He will get 30 plus minutes per game to apply that instruction.
Mad scientist Pop going to mad scientist, especially now that he doesn't have "veterans" to cater playing time to...except Forbes of course![]()
If Pop won't play rookies, then maybe we need a head coach that will..This team most likely isn't playoff bound so there is no point in over playing the vets over the up and coming young core where each game is a missed opportunity to get those young guys NBA experience and acclimated. There is nothing else to lose.
Pop is still acting like we have the big 3 and or some star players with the luxury of slowly building a younger core around, it really has to be a senile way of thinking.
Best thing to happen right now while we are heading to the lottery is get our current young players some burn and ready so when we get our next pick next season we can put all our developmental focus on the incomming rookie while we now have an idea what we have with our last years rookies.
This Team will advance light years once Pop hangs it up....if that ever happens lol

Because Gregg Popovich is the coach.
The funny thing is that I, along with a handful of others without their heads up Popovich's ass, told yall what would happen this summer. We've seen this same season after season. You already know popovich is gonna play the worst players and rotations all season. it's what he does and what he's been doing for the better part of the last 10 years. Why did anyone expect him to change in 2021?? He's in his 70s. What human being changes their ways in their 70s?
obviously. Sometimes I look at Spurs games and the players interviews and I question if they are even having fun playing under Popovich's dictatorship. You have an old man in his 70s that is in charge of a bunch of players in their 20s that he can't relate to. I even see Roy Williams and some college football coaches trying to have fun and relate to their players to loosen them up. It just seems like the spurs organization is about showing up, doing what he says, shoots when he says, run all the plays he says, go home and come back the next day to prepare for a game of playing exactly like he scripted. The seems like boot camp. , even the olympic team was complaining about this guy and they only had to put up with him for 2 months
1) these are grown men
2) olympics team wasnt complaining once they were winning. (Some probably realised the old man was right and they were about to get their asses handed to them without practice and proper prep)
Thaddeus carrol absolutely doesnt fit. Same for bryn. Jock and primo need more burn
DeMarre Young does not know where to go.
He is confused.
Poor thaddeus carrol,tbh
Poop has a thing for broke down washed up low IQ has been PFs
I get they had to settle for young in the bulls trade but his value is firmly in the toilet now. Not that he would of fetched a first or anything.
I wonder how long the Holts gonna pay Thad Carroll when Pop cuts him this year
