it's really the corporate elites that own these seats and sell them off. There was a whole posse of Lakers posers sitting courtside. most real spurs fans are mid to upper level.

The scary thing wasn't the cheering for the Lakers.

    It was the empty seats.

It’s like that with Military Cities with these bandwagon fans everytime Lakers or Warriors play. It’s really pretty annoying.

Laker bandwagon fans are everywhere. Only cities that are immune to them are NYC and Chicago. Those are the only two places where they are never able to take over an arena. I live in Charlotte and have seen for years them filling out Spectrum whenever the Lakers come to town. It used to get me pissed off back in the day when those ers would come to Spurs-Lakers playoff games at home in SA. I still remember the .4 game I could hear Laker fans taunt Duncan while he was at the free-throw line in that game. Overall an annoying fan base that is a bunch of frontrunners and only shows up when their team is winning.

wouldnt be like that if spurs played in austin........big market more espn coverage more superstar players signing
Austin is a tiny market. The hype around it is stupid. Media wise nobody gives a about Austin nationally. They are ranked 28th when it comes to Metro size.

At least its not like here in D.C. where pretty much every Wizards game is a home game for the other team.

to be fair, in the spurs glory days, it wasn't uncommon to hear a lot of noise from Spurs fans in cities like Phoenix, the ATL, H-Town, Minnesota, Charlotte, D.C, Memphis...

Im always rocking with my Lakers win or lose.
I was there through years where Nick Young. Ceballos, and Anthony Peeler were the leading scorers...not all Laker fans are as you described. Just like not all Spur fans make jokes about Kobe's death or make light of Magic getting HIV.

Totally disagree. Austin is full of young people that would rather play videos games than see a basketball game. You would never see a fan from Austin with the same passion as the baseline bums. Also, they are not going to pay the heavier prices to see a team that is not much different than the team they already have.
    yeah um

    no

    quit generalizing

here in austin - but lifelong hardcore spurs fan and severe laker hater -

those morons last night were real san antonian s

I don't think the majority of the Laker fans were CA transplants or Austin people. There has always been a ton of SA Laker fans at the games. Anyone video any fights? I've seen a few of those.

All you can really do is ambush them in the parking lot after the games with some little league bats a couple of wacks and they’ll stop coming to the games.

Cheering just as loud for the lakers. Booing when the spurs were on the line. Cheering when the spurs missed a shot.cheering when the lakers made a shot. Really San Antonio?
It's been that way for a long time now because there's a bunch of cheap asses who can't fly out and see LA so they bandwagon at Spurs games.

Austin is a white hippie city similar to Portland, I don't picture black superstar players signing up there like crazy.

It isn't transplants...it has always been like this. Mexicans are pretty evenly split in SA between the Lakers and Spurs. You probably had some from around Texas that traveled there too. Tyler has a fairly large Hispanic community and I would guess that there are 5 Lakers fans for every Spurs fan. It's also why SA will never have a football team. Mexicans love the ing Cowboys and that will never change.
