This case annoys me but doesn't get me too worked up because it really comes down to this IMO... You can make a case that Rittenhouse was legitimately engaged in self-defense which is frustrating because he is the one who presented himself as a threat by menacingly carrying that unconcealed weapon into a politically charged protest and basically dared someone to confront him. He was confronted because they thought HE was the threat and so then he is forced to defend himself (but instead of firing warning shots he just goes for the kill or close to it).

Nothing said by "independent reporting", whatever is meant by that, really is disputing this, is it? On technical grounds, I think he could be not guilty so I can't blame the jury if they're thinking along the same lines as I am but it's wrong in so many other ways that this ever happened.

The point of the article wasn't about disputing the take you had on it and you had a fair take. It was about the false narrative the MSM pushed from the start. Reporting on the shooting was awfully biased against Rittenhouse and if there are riots the media will be to blame for misleading the public from the get go.
