You can stop with the drama. He’s played in 22 games, over 300 minutes, and you’d think he’d figure out that his minutes stopped cold when he started whining, and he’d stop going on podcasts to about his minutes. He was actually first big off the bench before he started his fest.

Thad, just STFU. If you can’t make $14M to play somewhere not of your choosing for 50 games or so without publicly and vocally complaining, you’re not even a professional, or much of a man, quite frankly.
No i can't, it's the first time he plays that little, that's a fact so i understand what he said. He was playing behind Eubanks, i think people don't realize this thing...

I understand and agree with him.

He was playing behind Eubanks, until he bumped past him for first off the bench. I don’t like him because he es too much. I also don’t like him because he snitched out the players only meeting. He’s basically just a snake that we need off this roster. As much as he wants to be gone, I want him gone double that much.

I wouldn’t be upset if a team said to me you get 14M to sit there and work out and we’ll trade you to a legit good playoff team halfway through the season. It’s not that we don’t think you’re good we just want to keep you healthy for the trade market and play the young guys.

It's the first time in his long carreer that he is not playing so his reactions are legit and not surprising.

He is not playing a single minute, i don't see a player with his level who could b esatisfied by this.
Still, would he be smart he would talk with Pop and not making this public. He’s showing a bad image of himself and it hurts both his image and the chance for the club to trade him. That’s a loose/loose situation.

I get Thad's frustration but, I don't get him making it public. It doesn't help him at all. He should be professional enough to deal with this for half a season.

I understand all your point of views, he could have said nothing in the media. I understand the frustration but that's it.

Imo that we'll end up with a cut and nothing else. Too difficult to have a good offer with his contract.

His contract isn’t bad at all. To match it, you just need one mid level deal, and a deal or deals totaling like $4-5M.

A lot of pearl clutching going on about this. He’s not a bad player or person. He’s just towards the end of his career and doesn’t want to waste what he has left, nor lose anymore off his next contract by not playing. It’s not like he’s pulling a Kawhi or something. I say who cares.

That’s probably what will happen. It would be nice to get something, even a SRP, but he’s kind of destroyed his value with all of his whining. At this point, I just want him gone.

During the buyout period, all the teams that want to sign buyouts usually have to cut someone, and maybe we pick up someone then the way we got Cacok at then end of the summer. We also got KBD at the end of camp the year before. I’d rather get a young long shot than a bad contract and a meh pick.
So would you rather the spurs have kept luka over him yet? I see you are finally (slowly very slowly) starting to come around on DJM.

Luka cost $3M to cut. It would have cost $14M to cut Thad, so, no. He may still bring us a small asset.

I don’t think you understand the level of loathing I have for Samanic. He’s a lazy, spoiled brat who scratched about 40% of his talent, and probably still doesn’t understand that was the reason he was cut. There are, during normal times, 450 players on 30 NBA rosters, and of those players, maybe 10-15 are special. What most people don’t realize is that each of those 450 were special at some point, but accepted that a jump in the level of compe ion rendered them good or normal. Samanic never got that he wasn’t special any more. He still expected to be given things, not to have to work for them or earn them.

I'd have to think we extend our buyout streak here unless we can include him in a multi-team trade or add another useful expiring contract like Walker and/or pick to upgrade (doubtful).

If he gets bought out then he would cost us 14 mil anyway. yes some of it may have been paid while he was on the team but if he is causing problems that is worse then being lazy. Also luka had more upside.

What you said about NBA players being good on a lower level I agree with and some dont make that jump.

He probably thinks lack of playing time will hurt his next contract.

And dude may actually enjoy playing the game and not what to sit around doing nothing.

Not saying we're a contender, but I wonder how he feels watching us win an he has no parts of it. Landle has assured Young's faith on this team, or lack there of.

I am a bit surprised he didn't get any PT last night. He is really in the dog house or being bubble wrapped or both.

The thing that bothers me was Pop gave Thad as much exposure possible despite the rebuilding and in expense of a Jock’s minutes, who could’ve helped Spurs win some of those games that Poeltl was out, just for this guy to be ungrateful about it. And to think PATFO explained to him from the very start. Now see if he even sniff the court from hereon.

Seems like he's firmly in the dog house, which is weird because from the outside looking in he appears to be a good teammate. He made the mistake of talking to the media about lack of playing time which was probably all it took to get a permanent front row view.

Spurs need to do everything they can to get something for him by the trade deadline. Surely someone needs a player with his skillset.

Thaddeus Young isn’t a major trade domino, and the Spurs don’t like to do midseason deals, so he may end up on the buyout market instead. But teams will be calling about him, and San Antonio should act if there’s a draft asset on the table.

The long drawn out process makes we wish the NBA would allow teams to auction off players and let teams openly bid on them…it would be great TV

I’d really like to set a new precedence. Thad Young really doesn't deserve a buyout unless he takes substantial money off the table. He probably will not garner anything in the trade market at this point but we need to start communicating to the league we aren’t complete pushovers. I like Thad but we owe him nothing.

People think spurs would get a 1st with ease. Young is a backup 5 for a le team with some flexibility to play the 4 with certain stretch 5s. Overall, Spurs would need to take on a contract and that's where the first comes in play.

It’ll be a trade deadline decision. Too much ambiguity with the current season, no reason to move on him now but the market of a contender with FRPs to offer is thin and I bet most GMs who made these kind of moves in recent years would prefer those firsts back in hindsight. I’d be very happy to eat 10mm in cap space for a year for a late first if there was a deal on the table.

Depth is so much more important this year. If teams are signing old washed up players in order to play there will be some market for Thad. Patience.

The Covid situation is probably a consideration for Thad as an insurance having enough players in case. Zollins coming back in game shape should ease the decision making. On the flip side, a contender getting hit with Covid could get a quality replacement instead of activating from its GLeague and still not lose a beat with an experienced big.
