Maybe she’s exhausted from begging NBA teams to hire her. Seems like she tried to land an NBA head coaching gig every year she was here.
With Pop having sooo much fun with the youngins, he just might just go ahead and coach out his contract, I believe ends after next year, so Becky just may not be willing to wait, but instead, take one of those WNBA jobs (cough, Aces). It's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out, though, to include Pop's successor when that happens.
There may have been something to those leaked rumors to Portland. Granted, it's hard to say what the FO wants to do for the future because they don't share much and/or aren't sure what they want to do after Pop because they don't know when he's leaving..but even given all that, it doesn't seem like they have exactly validated her as the lead assistant at all, ever. To me, it feels like they really hope someone else hires her.
There is 30 head coach positions and only a few every year pop up. It's one of the hardest gigs to get.
Pop still refuses to name her lead assistant, designate her as the emergency coach in cases of ejection, and of course she's not going to be named associate head coach like in some organizations. , she still has to do radio post game interviews which back in the golden years was reserved for the 2nd and 3rd assistants as the lead always got the radio pregame spot.
And she has what, 5 more years of experience than any other assistant coach?
She's never getting anything from the Spurs and it sounds like her agent knows it.

She strikes me as a good coach but who know when the Spurs might consider giving her the reins. Pop may run at it another 3 or 4 years. New lease on life with the young guys playing well?
I got the vibe she was ready to go last year. I don’t think WNBA is the right move, I think she’d be better off coaching a college team men or women before there.

Agreed. There's still no money in the WNBA, their coaches might not even make much more than she gets now. She probably remembers the lack of money as a player and having to sell out her country for the extra rubles so she didn't have to eat ramen nightly.
College seems so much more stable, WNBA still being financed by the NBA, it's always a risk to be folded. If that ever happens the women's college market will be flooded by desperate people looking for work. Better to get in now, she'd probably have job security for life in whichever college town she wants.
This whole playing up the WNBA could be a strategy to just drum up interest from places that were fooled into thinking she was refusing to consider anything less than a head job in the NBA. Now a bunch of colleges with booster money and endowments for women's studies etc can reach out to the agent for such a trailblazer who might have seemed unobtainable.
I still don't know how I feel about a female NBA head coach. If she's good enough to do it, more power to her. But someone has to be willing to take that risk. I don't doubt that she knows the game pretty well but a lot goes into being a good NBA head coach.

Bruh if she’s good then people should just hire her. How many moron male coaches do we have in the league? I’m sure Pop is just staying for the winningest coach (whether he admits or not, it is a huge honor) and will leave the helm to Becky
Remeber the days of prime Timmy when the board used to laugh and diss other teams about "regular season wins". Ie when the Suns and Mavs were racking up 60+ and the Spurs would still punk them every year but 06.

Probably hard having a coach who can't enter lockerroom n give those famous speeches. Maybe late night calls where one man relates to another based upon their own experiences. Maybe women don't like another woman calling their man whether she's their coach or not...relationships have started in weirder places
in all fairness to pop, it's also just as likely he loves coaching. I'm no longer a giant pop stan but we shouldn't be so pessimistic and nihilistic that we take away his love of the game from him just because we've grown tired of how he coaches, etc

Does not change the incredible incompetence he has shown ie Bryn Bryn starting 151 of 152 games, often paired with 50 Mil Paddy for some lock down perimeter D in modern NBA three ball. 5 les previously with Duncan and cast does not somehow make 2018 onward behavior okay. It's no longer about team, it's about him. Seriously, Spurs objective 2018 - present is no longer about winning games. It's about what Pop wants.

Could also be read as "No more wasting talent on a hire" in that Popped never intended and never does intend to utilize her talent.
Therefore Pops hire was strictly to look Woke and as a result Becky is a clip board holder / Yes Man.
