Clutch doesn't miss free throws and crunch time over close game
Go watch the last few minutes of tonight's game against the Rockets.
Clutch doesn't miss free throws and crunch time over close game
He would actually be even more clutch if he had more talented teammates to set him up for spot up 3s. He’s hitting those on the regular now. If someone could pull defenses in and give him spacing, he hits those. Relying on Murray to carry the team for the full 48 minutes is unfair.
No need to move the goal post on this one. This has been this teams M.O since the Big Three Era - or we pretending 2013 never happened.
The kid has been great. And he’s doing it with not much talent around him. Very impressive.
The issue is not the last missed FT, it's we are not able to set up a purposely missed FT for our guys to gain another possession.
He is on such a good contract. Spurs really need get a team around him on this deal.
Exactly, his contract is so good with how he plays. He's easily worth 20-25 mil/year. I'm sure some teams probably would be willing to pay him 30 mil/year. Dude is a baller, can run an offense, plays hard both ends of the floor, coachable and improving every year. While he's on such a team friendly contract. Yet, we still have people here complaining about him not being able to close out games like he's Kobe. I mean come on, really? Lol

Team is ing trash
Front office is ing trash
They can all get ed.
Except Jock
he's only on that contract for 2 more seasons after this one. Spurs won't get him any significant help in these 2 years
very few people can do that somewhat reliably. And the few that can are typically not fouled at the end as they are good ft shooters.
I hate to burst the bubble. I like DJM taking over the game but those were acrobatic shots and long 3’s. How many times he’s gonna make those? I’m not hating but give me a “go to” move that he can milk every time. Don’t get me wrong. I love that DJM is continuing to improve and his hunger will get him there. I want him to finish strong in the basket and draw contacts for one and sink those free throws. But yup he’s getting there.
DJ was scorching last night, but we still lost to the tanking Rockets.
Sorry, I'm not taking any moral victories away from this one other than it's improving our draft odds.
ST is littered with posters that undervalue murray to no avail; and these would be the same posters that would blast the front office to no end if murray was let go.
Murray is holding Walker and White back with his Derozan style of ball hog play. Empty stat padder. Not a leader. Not the “head of the snake.” I remember he told Pop to sit the fk down, a cardinal sin. He isn’t a finisher. His rebounds are him rebounding his own misses. His fades are too fresh. He rocks my annual salary on his wrist. He didn’t even get a triple double 3 games ago.
Still a blessing he has two more full seasons no player opt out on that deal. So that is two salary cap years you can bring someone in, even 3 if no pre extension, to build a better team and still extend him at a fairer market price. His below fair market value is a bright spot in a world where PATFO largely has their heads up their asses.
He made some nice plays but also some really bad ones and drove into the lane with nowhere to go a few times. But he is the only one playing his butt off every game. No way anyone should be blaming Murray for anything this season tbh. He's the reason we are not the Orlando Magic![]()
Timmy Duncan, Wilt, Prime Lebron, current Greak Freak.....
Very small list of players who could lead this years team with it's present coach to the playoffs.
Murray is doing the best he can.
The Spurs are gonna suck like this for the next 4 years. And we are wasting Pop's time with a team like this tbh. I say it's time for a huge gamble. No not Ben simmons but instead another disgruntled superstar player. I say we offer Murray and 2 first rounders for Zion Williams.
Williams may have an eating issue (it could just seriously be depression from living in NO. that place is a hole that smells like a hole too) but I think working with a legendary mentor and overall person/coach in Pop would get the young man on the right path. he went from Coach K to whoever the is coaching the Pels currently. I believe in Zion if he's being coached by Pop.
Pels get an all-star like player in Murray who will help with their culture and give them that point guard they are missing. The Spurs get a potential dominant big man plus whoever our top pick is this year's draft. Combined with Primo and we re-sign Lonnie, we finally have an actual team with actual positions instead of tweeners.
White
Vassell
KJ
Zion
Poeltl
Bench
Primo
Lonnie
Jock
1st rounder
somebody else not named Forbes
It's never gonna happen obviously (it's my new dream) but if smarter heads actually thought about it then it SHOULD happen. Zion isn't ever gonna play for the Pels again and the Spurs are gonna suck for the next 3 years. Both teams roll the dice and hopefully both teams come out a winner
Those weren't really clutch minutes though. The Spurs were running from behind without much chance of really getting back into the game.
Real clutch minutes come in a game where a team isn't leading for more than 4 or 5 pts.
More like Pop is wasting our time and should quit but he's going to be here until he gets the record and maybe even longer.
sarcasm sir
