On Monday, Virginia Tech announced it would no longer make coronavirus vaccination a condition of student enrollment. The University of Virginia, meanwhile, said it would no longer threaten to disenroll students this semester who do not get a vaccine booster shot.

Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, and the University of Mary Washington, in Fredericksburg, also rolled back student vaccine mandates as well as George Mason.

Austin ISD has lowered its requirements for subs ute teachers and increased the pay. The district is accepting subs with fewer than 60 college credit hours, and they're paying some teachers up to $225 a day.



“At some point, because of COVID, we're just not going to have a teacher in every classroom if things keep up this way,” said Judge Brown.

66% of Israel's population is fully vaccinated, not 80% (your original post) and certainly not 95% (your edit). This is close to the US's fully vaccinated rate of 64%. The biggest difference is that 53% of Israel's population has been boosted, versus 27% of the US.

On a per-capita basis, the United States' 7-day average daily deaths are 27% higher than Israel. This also despite Israel being 92% urban.

As per reports, the reason behind the decision to scrap the restrictions amidst the Omicron surge in the country is that the spread is not putting a heavy burden on the healthcare system. Also, the high vaccination rate in the country has contributed to the low severity of infection.
