Well deserved. Does this mean he’ll probably get the MIP? Maybe 1st team All-Defense too. If this continues he’ll be our 1st Supermax player since Timmy(?). Don’t even know if Timmy asked for a Supermax or available then. Will he be that good?

I think Silver likes the spurs. Pop is ultra leftist, the team never forced him to take on the kawhi drama. The spurs have been humbled since then. San antonio, despite losing a bunch of talent and staffed is still poised for a very quick rebuild without drama. Whats to hate?
So Pop isn't leftist (let alone ultra, WTF), and neither is Silver. Silver seems to be centrist (mainly because he's just doing what he thinks the majority of the country wants him to do), and Pop is slightly left of center. He criticized the roll of big business in politics a little bit, but he's a firm Democrat. As a rule of thumb, you're not going to find many leftists as trade commissioners or in prominent business positions. For some reasons, having millions of dollars tends to change one's views on wealth distribution.

Regardless, I don't think it's ever been fair to say Silver hates SA. He probably appreciates how inoffensive they are. They're in a small market, but the fandom has been stable. They've helped expand the NBA brand to other continents. The ownership doesn't get into trouble, and the players don't get caught up in celebrity scandals. I don't know how much Silver looks at his teams from a fan perspective anymore. He may not like them in that regard, but he probably appreciates them from an management perspective.

It’s important that he’s in the AS weekend, brushing shoulders with other AS’s. DJM has the infectious personality that could get other high caliber players wanting to sign with the Spurs, especially being a PG who can help give them the ball. Good news.

At a Spur getting recognition and the league not folding in the process.

At best, he's been negligent both in promoting them (paraphrasing, but I remember from a Wojnarowski story when the Spurs made the Finals in '13 him saying something along the lines of the league should have done a better job at that, even if they were opposed) and protecting them.

He failed to see the bigger picture with the S bag fiasco, allowing a precedent to be established where it was okay to do pretty much anything (like withhold medical information from your employer paying you $18.6M, which created the shroud of mystery and led to diminished trade value) to force a trade and leave an organization in tatters and it's been open season since.

The fact that both Green and Wiggins made it over him to begin with is bull . I’m glad they fixed their mistake

sidenote: we could’ve had 2 all star guards to make the all star team at the same time for the first time in franchise history had we not traded DDR

When he came into the league he had a dribble that was shoulder high and a crazy jump shot form that gave a sideways spin to the ball. These issues meant he was going to have to retool some of these bad habits and you never know if a new player is going to accept that he will have a lot of work to do to reach his goals. This kid deserves every honor he will get because of his unbelieveable development into a quality player. That only comes from hard work combined with good coaching and encouragement to do the work. Great effort by both the player and organization.

As an FYI he has already been keeping great company for years. Running in summer mini camps with elite players, attending charity games etc.

Remember when you said he couldn’t be a leader because he got heated with Pop LOL

As someone who didn’t really believe in the Murray hype at first, he’s really proved me wrong and I’m glad he’s at this level in his career. Lol @ Demar getting snubbed last year though if Murray was picked this season.

Now that was a mistake and I'm sure DJ himself admitted

It's still different when you're recognized by the NBA, maybe getting the Most Improved Player and 1st Team All-Defense would help recruit players to San Antonio, more especially right now. Spurs have big cap and assets to make things possible

I'm the 1st one to admit I wanted him traded for Simmons. He's proven me wrong.

DJ’s inherent street baller style of play will make him fun to watch in this setting. Compare that to all the times when Kawhi was an all star and it was boring as .

I had Kawhi +2200 for AS MVP on $200 in 2020.

It's true that Lebron has always been a fan of Murray. DeJounte has that shonen developmental arc going.
