Nope. Any Russian invasion would be subjected to hostile population armed by NATO. They could topple the government but not hold it. This is a nation three times bigger than Afghanistan, with borders directly on hostile NATO countries that would ship arms and weapons in to any willing hands.
We are already sending lethal weapons, so "not doing a thing" would mean we would stop doing so, which would seem to be unlikely.
