The natural variance of shooting 40 percent means there will be games when a guy's shot is off. It wasn't too long ago that McD's shooting kept the team in a game they weren't playing well enough to compete in. He's having a decent season overall, which isn't something every rotation player on the team can say. Thad's just now fitting into the offense a bit, and McD is coming off an injury. Not the game I'd use to criticize him.

And for 's sake, the team has Landale all year and his RFA rights after that. They don't have to fall all over themselves to get him into the rotation. He certainly isn't going to get SF minutes.

I note Dougie McNoD has the Bryn Forbes hand clap when he gets used on D after giving up a And1

want to see him shoot more. he's shown the ability to get shots off on the move or off balance and still knock them down. he needs to be hoisting up at least 7-8 attempts per game. i know he's not going to necessarily hit 48% all year on higher volume, but his gravity is always useful

Pop, always needs 2 of these type of players it was Forbes,Belli , now it's McD and Forbes. I don't understand it other then It's an odd fetish that Pop has
Bad lottery team overpays terrible defending 30 year old

    Combined with Forbes?

    Such a trash team
    Same old .
What a waste of good cap space.

    Another beauty vs 76ers.
    28 minutes
    1 rebound
    1 assist
Bryn Bryn style lock down D

    9 points (1-5 treys)

4th highest player, 3rd once we move/buyout Thad.

41% season average on 5 threes doesn’t justify the 42mm contract.

Easily my least favourite current Spur. 7/11 from the field last night and still noticeably detrimental to the team.

The Chicago announcers were going crazy with praise last night for McDermott. Rating systems like EPM and RAPTOR consistently rank him near the bottom of the league, in Bryn Forbes territory. I'll let you be the judge. He's probably best suited for a role similar to the one Forbes had with the Bucks last season. The defense & rebounding that he & KJ combine for as starters is pretty clearly the gaping weak spot for the Spurs.

Doug is good at what he does, we have to cover up his defensive shortcomings with great team defense. We aren’t the first or last team in the league who will go through this Was Steve Kerr a great defender? Nope but you create a great defense around him…….this is not new! The team that can mask their weakest link wins.

Very true, but Kerr was a 10th man with the Spurs, like Forbes was with the Bucks. He wasn't a starter.

Kerr with the bulls? Great shooters aren’t usually great defenders. And let’s be honest, Doug’s a placeholder for the eventual starter…..

Given the 3rd highest $$$ and terms thru '23-24.

    Serious misuse of funds.

    Onward with the replacement starter.
    14th-15th on bench okay.

Playing another 6'5 SG is gonna solve our issue? Might as well sit Poeltl and start LW or Primo as well.

Having Josh and Langford is a luxury in deciding whether to keep Lonnie after this season. IF Lonnie can play like the last two games, then great. MAYBE Lonnie finally got it. Sometimes teaching is like that, when a student FINALLY got it, just like that, and the cloud finally disappear . It sure looks like it’s a win/win with Boston getting a rejuvenated White, and Spurs got defensive athletic G/F to potentially solve that Lonnie’s spot. After that is the starting 4 and 5.

I don’t know Luca personally and just go by what’s discussed in this forum. I think the issue is character. I too rooted for him because of his skills and potential. Lonnie, for what I’ve read about him, is a great character guy, on and off the court, with his teammates and the community. Of course he’s also a hard worker, but it’s the bball IQ that quite seem to click. The skills and desires to get better are there. I think Pop is giving him every chances because he’s a good player and good person in the team.

He’s a great floor spacer on offense and brings that Marco level D.

I like Doug, though. Used properly he’s an asset.
