This is an interesting factoid I found out while visiting Eastern Canadian Provinces (and I will add kayaking and camping in the Bay of Fundy area):

After the Civil War was over, and Union Soldiers were loitering about in Northeastern US the Canadians, still fearful of their British and French Heritage, were very worried the US would try to take land in Canada. We did not. But the Canadians were seriously getting ready and talking about it. There were a load of soldiers without jobs so you gotta find something for them to do... I had no idea.

Stalin just went romping through Europe. Did you forget about this? Read some history.

Personally I would like those troops out and no fear of things like Crimea, Georgia, Ukraine, subs in Sweden, Finland etc... with zero communication about these moves. But a midget wont let it be. The president for life holds some goals before his life ends. I guess we have to deal with that. There were talks about removal but they fell flat. Looks good now.
