Democrats used to be the party of racists.
Republicans wanted more votes, and clearly identified southern racists as a target cons uency, and worked towards getting their votes. They succeeded.
So the modern Republican party swallowed that poison, and have been denying the very existence of that poison ever since. It is fun to watch the tap dancing around it.

That poison of racism runs through the veins of modern conservatism, and is why they get so defensive when called on it, and so easily worked up when the effects of racism are pointed out. The hysteria over CRT is just a new form of "why are the negros getting so uppity", IMO.

Most white racists are Republicans. I would go further and say the vast majority of white racists in the US are Republicans.
