Please. The joke is on U.S., their children stay home, safely ensconced from the slaughters while our children go in their place to the slaughters then come home thru Dover to find MF Biden watching his watch while they "step down from the plane and there to meet them is their mama and papa."

    Why? Simple...Hitler.

For a commanding officer to claim lack of combat readiness seems like career suicide. I'd bet the HSK would have something to say about that. Truth is they want no part.

The Western conundrum. After decades of being projected to guilt, self-defeat and submissiveness, they are now being asked to stand up to the rising Beast from the East.

There's no conundrum. This is simply a great opportunity to do business. Sell weapons to Ukraine, sell gas to Europe, bring in Ukranian refugees to the US to grow our economy and diversity.

And to "report" on it all. Not ironically, same families receive the funneled funds from all of it. Nothing has changed since we climbed from the primordial ooze.

I'd be ok with the Ukes being here. I have a couple spare bedrooms.

Not sure but does it have to do with a strong US presence no longer being there? I remember join training with the German Army back then. Then we left.

Oh sure, they aren't ready no doubt, but saying that as the CO isn't a great idea.

The idiot thinks that the Chief of the German Army is a just a CO, go figure, always talking out of his ass.

He will claim, that CO is appropriate as he commands and ignore fact that the Chief of the German Army's opinion is that of the entire German Army and his opinion counts, period.

Plus the career ender crap, he has been in military for 41 years, what, he expects him to command until the Lt General is 100!

Guess you were not paying attention.

    CO is commanding officer.

This thread is about Lieutenant General Alfons Mais declaring that the German Army lacks combat readiness. It has nothing to do with US presence in Germany.

Lieutenant General Alfons Mais is the Chief of the German Army and his opinion is important. He is of retirement age and has nothing to lose voicing his opinion.

And, DMC is an idiot talking out of his ass.

I thought you might mean commanding officer but still.... The Germans do not have the elite training we do. Therefore, when we left they became unprepared. After a wile of course. I'm not a German CO just a guy that use to be part of the joint training. They did not have the same training and support we did. Training aint that hard. But if you don't have it you just don't That's my assessment.

The Chief of the Army is the supreme commander of the German Army, one of the military services of the Bundeswehr, and exercises command and control over more than 60,000 women and men in uniform.

A portrait of the Chief of the German Army, Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, in uniform
LIEUTENANT GENERAL ALFONS MAIS, CHIEF OF THE GERMAN ARMY
    Bundeswehr
As the core of the land forces, the Army is today judged by the way we accomplish mandated international crisis management missions and meet our standby commitments in a collective-defence framework. This objective is thus my primary concern.

The Lt. General probably agrees that they are not where they should be, this is what he posted:

You wake up in the morning and realize: There is war in Europe. Yesterday we held a "Day of Values" in the army. At its core was the question "What do we serve for?" It has never been easier to make this clear to the generation that did not live through the Cold War. In my 41st year of service in peace, I would not have thought I would have had to experience another war. And the Bundeswehr, the army that I am allowed to lead, is more or less blank. The options we can offer policymakers to support the Alliance are extremely limited. We all saw it coming and were unable to penetrate with our arguments to draw and implement the conclusions of the annexation of Crimea. That doesn't feel good! I'm up! NATO territory is not yet directly threatened, even if our partners in the East feel the constantly growing pressure. When, if not now, is the time to leave the Afghanistan mission behind us structurally and materially and to reposition ourselves, otherwise we will not be able to implement our cons utional mandate and our alliance obligations with any prospect of success.

Well that sounds like a bunch of fancy mumbo jumbo by the 41 year vet. That or maybe the man's a genious by taking the flack for this statement BUT avoiding sending Germans to combat. Also preserving that relationship with Russia. Just watch, the Ukrainians will fall (due to the military disparity) and eventually it will be out of the news cycle. Just like Afghanistan. All got to do is hold out and you'll be ok.

It's not mumbo jumbo. It's an elegantly worded diatribe and military introspection. He poses a question for thought but, if as Ef-man said, he's at the end of his tenure as the HMFWIC, then he's just being grandiose, all hat and no cattle. However, if he means to cause change by making the observation, his words could be the catalyst for a stronger German army. You just never know which intent he has here.
