This event definitely made me rethink what it is to be human. The thing is, humans taught Koko the sign language. But the gorilla did use the sign language symbolically imo. This was actually... I think... pretty big stuff in thinking about how human beings are alike, and very different, from other animals. This gave some light for me to think that we are not as "all that" as we think we are. Humbling stuff...
