    COVID is over because Karrin got impatient with it.
    Over 1700 Americans died of the COVID yesterday, Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

    With

    * Original Wuhan-Fauci variant infection
    * Two Pfizer shots
    * Omicron-AIDS variant infection

    How worried should I be?

    I'm done
    The article is about post-Covid effects on the brain, not the risk of reinfection. You continue to be exhibit A.

    I wouldn't count on COVID to thin the ranks enough to tilt elections and anyway, immune escape is already vitiating this effect.

    I also think celebrating the death of political adversaries by COVID is an L for public health. Death is hardly the only metric that counts and cheering on an infectious disease is barbarity, more or less.
    The anti-vaxxers will not get boosters, and will continue to die at appreciably greater rates.

    It won't thin the ranks of the fascist party appreciably this year or even next, but factor in the increased mortality over a decade...

    I wouldn't say I am "cheering this on" when I post something similar, but I am definitely not going to feel sorry for there being fewer fascist voters in the country over the long term.

    Buddy this is 2020 news. When Covid successfully recombines with another beta coronavirus in an animal host and creates an entirely new pandemic...that's when you say ruh roh. Might take hundreds of years, might take only months.

    I'm boosted and relatively unconcerned for myself, but I do try not to spread COVID to others when I'm in public because I'm not a sociopath. There are also people in my life who are more vulnerable than I, whom I wish to protect.
    Good, you spread enough bull already.

    preprint, hamsters

    Hong Kong's case rate and hospitalization curves are nearly vertical. South Korea and Singapore are having worst ever es. Australia is projecting cases will double there in the next 2-3 weeks. The UK has rising hospitalization.

    it's one big world, it would be amazing if we had no e here.

    time will tell

    Soon after the emergence and global spread of a new severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Omicron lineage, BA.1 (ref1, 2), another Omicron lineage, BA.2, has initiated outcompeting BA.1. Statistical analysis shows that the effective reproduction number of BA.2 is 1.4-fold higher than that of BA.1. Neutralisation experiments show that the vaccine-induced humoral immunity fails to function against BA.2 like BA.1, and notably, the antigenicity of BA.2 is different from BA.1. Cell culture experiments show that BA.2 is more replicative in human nasal epithelial cells and more fusogenic than BA.1. Furthermore, infection experiments using hamsters show that BA.2 is more pathogenic than BA.1. Our multiscale investigations suggest that the risk of BA.2 for global health is potentially higher than that of BA.1.

    Now that we know vaccination does absolutely nothing to prevent acquiring or passing on Covid, what is the logic of the 100% vaccination mandates?

    vaccines BOOT HIM, DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE.

    Vaccines have been mandatory for the armed forces of the United States since we have had armed forces. The "religious freedumb" argument is about to get its pee pee smacked by SCOTUS.

    "Reinfection with BA.2 following infection with BA.1 has been do ented, however, initial data from population-level studies suggest that infection with BA.1 provides substantial protection against reinfection with BA.2, at least for the limited period for which data are available."

    I get that, and can even see where in the military where they are responsible for providing health care it is beneficial to them. but in other cases I think it's dumb. I have some customers that require anyone that works there to be vaccinated. I don't see the point in that since a vaccinated person can spread covid just as easily as an unvaccinated one.

    The research shows that the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus can transmit from fully vaccinated people, who can have similar amounts of it in their airways as someone who is unvaccinated.

    CAN be... of course it can be depending on the recipients ability to amount an immune response.
    This was true with the first few strain of the virus. It appears to be true that the new strains have a higher likelihood of allowing one to get infected, manufacture virus, and release virus that is viable and capable of infecting others. The underlined is quite a tedious process and the steps the virus can be halted are many if a person is vaccinated. The underlined is what certain people on this site do not understand or are disingenuous about and thus make statements that are wrong.

    "Now that we know vaccination does absolutely nothing to prevent acquiring or passing on Covid, what is the logic of the 100% vaccination mandates?"

    This is absolutely wrong.
