To be fair, it's not just Tesla that is dependent of China, the whole industry is. There are no cars produced anywhere in the world without key components from China.
China is THE leading market, USA market became marginal and does not matter anymore like the European one btw. If you are a car manufacturer or an auto parts supplier and you are not present in China, you are dead... simple as that. Financial markets are punishing any companies with less than 20% of their sales in China.
