I guess that's why the US is damned determine to not be directly involved in the affair but didn't mind killing Soleimani.
The US is directly involved right now, to the tune of 2+ billion in equipment and aid. So much so, that Russia has complained about such assistance numerous times already.

If you mean troops on the ground, we already did deploy them on NATO countries as well. The US simply won't be the aggressor here unless there's a clear reason to be.

So far that means a NATO country being under attack. I do think if nukes enter the equation, that would provide another reason.

We must have different ideas about what "directly involved" means. We aren't launching sorties against Russian forces nor are we flying CAP for Ukraine, and we balked at the suggestion of enforcing a no-fly zone. So no, we aren't directly involved in a war with Russia.

WASHINGTON — In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the West has responded with devastating sanctions and a swift condemnation and isolation of Russia as well as by sending arms and other support to Ukraine.

But one option the Biden administration has definitively taken off the table: imposing a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

Experts told Defense News a no-fly zone would present multiple challenges — up to and including worries it could ignite a larger conflict between Russia and NATO.

“As much as we would love to say no-fly zones are super easy and it’s a clean way of doing business, this is simply not the case,” Heather Penney, a former F-16 pilot and senior resident fellow at the Mitc Ins ute for Aerospace Studies, said in an interview.

As Russian forces advanced on key Ukrainian cities, calls to impose a no-fly zone have increased. In a tweet Tuesday morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had “emphasized the need to close the sky over” Ukraine in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

That’s not happening, the press secretaries for the White House and Pentagon said Monday.

In a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said “that’s not a good idea,” adding that President Joe Biden does not want to risk putting the United States military in conflict with Russia.

“What that’d require is implementation by the U.S. military,” Psaki said. “It would essentially mean the U.S. military would be shooting down planes, Russian planes. That is definitely escalatory.”

    Yeah, we clearly do:

Apparently, it's pretty clear to Russia as well...

Like I said, if you meant US boot on the grounds, we've deployed troops in surrounding NATO countries in case Russia has more stupid ideas.

That's exactly what I said. The US won't be the aggressor here unless it has a clear reason to be. Russian attacking a NATO country is one of those reasons. I think nukes entering the picture in this conflict would be another such reason.

Which means they aren't indirectly involved. Ukraine is directly involved.

Like I said, if you interpret "directly involved" to mean "we've declared war on Russia" then we are not currently directly involved.

That said, the line between direct/indirect is very debatable, IMO. The US and the west in general are supplying weapons, training Ukranian soldiers, sending considerable amount of money and supplies.

Arguably, Ukraine would be in no position to defend itself against the Russian invasion if that support wouldn't be there.

Thats inconsequential,,,,did the US influence the outcome of the war,,,yes or no? If the answer is yes,,,then they directly are involved and against Russia. If Russia gave billions to Iraq and armed them to the teeth to kill American forces during desert storm,,,would say Russia wasnt directly involved?

That's exactly what I'm pointing out. DMC doesn't think that amounts to being "directly involved", but I think that's very debatable.

Then DMC is wrong,,,this may have started out as a Russia/Ukraine thing but has evolved into a Russia/USA thing with Ukraine as the pawn,,,
