Not to mention Russia has been #1 grain exporter already (Ukros was #6)

In other words Russia is selling their for the most part

The hungry will buy it and tell Uncle Sam to go a Goat
Russia has 3x the land that the US has to farm grain and they are incredibly inefficient at farming.
Put that under the HUGE underachievement column. Its pitifully run. Just like the oil. They have to get contracts with American companies to do both properly.

China is substantially smarter than Russia. They know where their bread gets buttered, and they also know the position they're in right now is directly related to western nations, especially the US.

China was a bit economy until the 90s, when they officially became the manufacturing arm of the USA.
    No argument from me.

I heard the Nazi's threw a bunch of conscripted civilian cannon fodder at Severodonetsk to soften the Russian defense. Then sent in Azov who still got their asses kicked.

Short of total capitulation, all wars end by doing a deal with the enemy.

Wars do of course have their uses, nationalistic enthusiasm, demonization of critics and windfall profits for manufacturers of war materiel being among them -- and in this case, a hearty boost to US food and energy producers and US political hegemony in Europe.

There was a sea change two weeks ago when Ukraine shifted to a public stance that it would cede no territory at all in a peace deal. On 21 May, Zelensky’s office stated that “The war must end with the complete restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.” Previously while they had been emphatic that no territory in “the East” would be ceded, there had been studied ambiguity about whether that referred to Donbass alone or also the Crimea.

The new Ukrainian stance, that there will be no peace deal without recovering the Crimea, has ended for now any hopes of an early ceasefire. It appears to be a militarily unachievable objective – I cannot think of any scenario in which Russia de facto loses Crimea, without the serious possibility of worldwide nuclear war.

This blow to the peace process was a setback in Ankara, and I should say that every source I spoke with believed the Ukrainians were acting on instructions conveyed from Washington to Zelensky by Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, who openly stated he wanted the war to wear down Russian defence capabilities.

A long war in Ukraine is of course massively in the interest of the US military industrial complex, whose dripping roasts in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria have gone rather off the heat. It also forwards the strategic objective of severely damaging the Russian economy, although much of that damage is mutual. Why we live in a world where the goal of nations is to damage the lives of inhabitants of other nations is a question which continues to puzzle me.

Turkey has for now turned towards the more limited goal of ensuring that grain supplies can be shipped out from the Black Sea through the Bosphorus. This is essential for developing nations and essential for world food supplies, which were already under pressure before this war began. Turkey is offering to clear sea lanes of mines and to police the ships carrying grain from the port of Odessa, which is still under Ukrainian control. Russia has agreed to the deal.

Ukraine is objecting to this plan to export its own wheat, because it objects to the removal of the mines, which I should be clear were put down in the sea lanes by Ukraine to prevent amphibious attack on Odessa. There is monumental hypocrisy by the West on this, blaming Russia for preventing the export of the grain while it is actually blocked in by Ukraine’s own mines, which they currently refuse to allow Turkey to remove.

Forcing Africa to starve to squeeze Russia is extreme.

I blame Putin for starting a war that does nothing to redress Russian long term security concerns. But the truth is that politicians in the West are equally keen on this war. Boris Johnson yesterday was blatantly promoting it for his own survival. Anybody who makes any effort to stop the killing – Presidents Macron and Erdogan in particular – are immediately and universally denounced by the “liberal” media.

Yet what is the end result that the liberal warmongers wish to achieve? When we reach the stage that Henry Kissinger is a comparative voice of sanity, the political situation is indeed dire.

NATO (and US) have very little influence in Africa. Even less than South America and they are really not liked there.

Its mostly because US has always ignored Africanfro the most part and turned a blind eye when European colonizers rob them blind.

Africa will most likely stick to their deals in China and Russia.

I guess Russia has no agency or responsibility for peace deals. Their demands are a force of nature, that cannot be denied or reversed. It's all up to west to find the way to work around them. If Russia doesn't believe in existence of Ukraine and Ukrainians, i guess we just have to accept that there will no longer be Ukraine and Ukrainians.

Craig Murray blames Russia as do I. Nothing quoted above absolves Russia for responsibility for the war or the peace.

& State run media CNN employs the same protocol...if it's bad news for Ukr they start off the segment with an accusation of war crimes, or, cholera outbreak...then end the segment like this...a slight shake of the head, then..."Ukraine forces may have to surren...I mean pull back in the Donbas..."

    Edrogan cares about deaths? NOPE.
He wants the PK destroyed and Turkey in a good place, this war was great for him.

That is just lazy BS not understanding Edrogan's situation in Turkey and foreign policy.
This is the same guy that tried to kill or eliminate Turkish Americans when he came to the US for talks when they merely protested.
    The man is a beast.

Presidents Macron and Erdogan in particular – are immediately and universally denounced by the “liberal” media.

No way, they guy is a parasite who will kill and eat anything if its easy.
And dont forget that Turkey itself needed that grain. If there was a food problem in Turkey, Edrogan would be even harder for the Turkish people to accept.
This war has helped solidify his political position which is of real importance to him. Because he is not popular.

Sure, Turkey has complicated national interests and self-interested leaders, hut so does everyone else. Biden warning Africa not to buy food it needs to feed people is ghoulish. Even if Turkey wants to make it easier feed Africans for bad reasons, the end is objectively good.

Thats how total victory by one side over the other works. One side surrenders unconditionally. Russia gave Ukraine a chance the first few days when they surrounded Kiev. Helensky played games. So Russia pulled back an brought in the meatgrinder. Now it wont stop until Ukraine surrenders unconditionally a la Japan. Total capitulation
