I think people are overestimating his contract. Im thinking 5 mil a year for about 2 years. he may get even less.
Any team paying him that will be bitterly disappointed.

I could see him doing a 2/12 kind of deal. But I think it really depends on this draft and other moves this summer (do we trade Richardon? McDermott? Other trades?)
Don't really see room for Walker here with Vassell and Primo on the roster, plus Richardson.
Feels like it depends on how the draft goes. If we went Sochan, Eason, Liddell, for example... I could definitely see a place for Lonnie. Taking Mathurin, Daniels, Davis, or anyone like them though kind of seals his exit it would seem.
If he doesn’t get an offer from another team I think they will do something like with Forbes cheap contract short on years and show case him early and then try and move him
He gets maybe a 2 year 14 million dollar contract with the 2nd year only being partially guaranteed or not a all. Don't know if he could get a better deal than that anywhere else though.
Given cap scarcity this off-season the MLE over 4yrs is his absolute max. I personally don’t want him back at any price.
And depending upon who is drafted at 9, he would really be squeezed out.
I agree depending on who Spurs pick. But I think for the right price, I want Lonnie back. Because I really think he made the turn and is a 20 points guy off the bench. That’s what your 6th man is suppose to do.
He's not going to be a 20 points guy. Defensively, he's too much a liability to play that many minutes.
I think giving him the Forbes deal to prove it is the best.
Forbes was a one year contract, and it wasn't to prove anything. He couldn't get a deal in the summer, and the one year contract gave him veto rights on any trade. I don't think he wanted to be here any more than fans wanted him here.
Don't see how he is back unless it's for dirt cheap since I don't understand where he would get consistent minutes from. If McBuckets hadn't have gotten hurt he might not have gotten any after Richardson got here.
The guy averaged 12 pts last year and still 23 yrs old. With his physical tools and acrobatic footage he has. I’ve watched opponents commentators salivating with awe at times. I mean the guy will get his offer. I mean freaking J-Simmons got 3/20m, granted he only took home 12m off that.
He’s improved every year for the most part. We’re not completely at his ceiling. There’s good return if he becomes a 14-16ppg scorer at under 26mpg. His 3pt percentage needs to improve.
I see his value right around 6 to 8 a year depending on if he can take a little jump in production.
Awesome dude, but all sizzle and no steak, so to speak. Great highlights but a microwave guy who is trying to find a setting higher than Low. He needs to still make big improvements to his game. I think playing on a different team will be a huge improvement for him in that regard.
I wonder what team he signs with this coming season? The only way I see him staying here is if a lot of the guard depth is shipped out in some sort of trade.
So long Lonnie.. Thanks for the two memories - the 30 point game against Houston and the massive missed dunk against Denver.
FiveThirtyEight Raptor their default minimum minutes WAR
2022 226th -0.4 Justin Holiday, Lonnie Walker IV
2021 106th +3.2 Alex Caruso, Jerami Grant, Furkan Korkmaz, Pascal Siakam
anything above 6 million per year is an overpay. I'm glad he's gone
meh, wouldnt really factor in richardson even though i like him. spurs are still clearly in a rebuild phase unless they go ham and land LaVine or something. Richardson will be 29 at the start of the season and is more than likely dealt for a pick to a contender who wants an immediate contributor on a decent expiring deal.
i dont love walker, but there are scenarios where he fits on the roster as a microwave off the bench, and he's still just 23 so his game has plenty of room to grow in theory. i dont see Will Barton as outside the range of outcomes, and barton wasn't at 23 either. point being there is a scenario where lonnie is a long term piece on a rebuilding team, even with primo/vassell as presumed starters on the wings.
obviously will come down to how much walker wants and if its worth it for us
Then Spurs usually bring their players back so that's what I expect for Walker.
They are going to run out the same core as last year with one or two new draft additions.
It's fun to speculate all these trades or free agents they will get but good chance they don't make any big team changing trades or fa signings.
That's probably what you said at the trade deadline, too. Surprise, MF...
Gl on your new team lw!
