That's why I gave several names per spot. I'm pretty sure at least one of those guys will be available at the spots presented.
IDGF. You draft a talent like that and then figure out what to do with it. Worst case scenario you swap him for further assets down the road.
That's why I gave several names per spot. I'm pretty sure at least one of those guys will be available at the spots presented.
It could be. Most of them are projected to go higher than the spots… but mocks are mocks. Reality is different and guys do fall once the reaching starts… I just wanted to point it out since you said you just started looking.
I don’t bet, but could the betting houses just be playing some histeria here to affect their returns? Wild. I wonder how much money is moved in betting.
Thanks this answers my question… I dont bet thankfully. Been wrong plenty enough in just my couch GMing to start putting money on it. Lol
Mostly bc I am a fan. I didnt want the GSW to win another le so I rooted against them to the bitter end, where anyone could have foreseen the outcome. Still I remain cheering for a few young west conference teams to pull it together next year.
Keegan, Sharpe, Sochan can't all go before 9 considering that you have the top 4 pretty much set and then guys like Mathurin, Dyson Daniels, Duren, Davis, Dieng, etc. Same with the guys in the other spots.
I was living in SA for the 2014 champ, and also watched the debacle of game 6 2013 on TV while I was still mostly a casual fan. I missed all of the glory years prior to 2014. I wasn't a fan of basketball prior to 2013 really. I dont have that memory that the old school fans have of having lived through the glory years as kids and shared that joy.
Redemption 2014 remains the magical season for me… and it also turned me into a basketball fan in a way I wasn’t before. Id say it’s good for the sport to have more teams be compe ive. They will earn fans of local teams that would never had paid attention if their local team all of a sudden didnt start being a thing. Then hopefully those fans remain fans of the sport for a long time. That was me.
It also means my Spurs fandom, unlike most here, has mostly come when they are bad ironically. I was around to see the end of an era, and by now they have been mediocre or been bad longer than they have been a good team for latecomer fans like me. I think there are possibly more people in my situation as time goes on. … weird reflection here.
A few guys you have in the 20s likely dont make it there IMO, but no matter. Its just an expression of your preferences. I was pointing out you may want to look at other guys mocked at those spots… but honestly once the reaching starts who knows?
Drom John | Stat projection draft modified by reading too many mock drafts
June 23, 2022
I'm fascinated by Pelton's projection. I have followed his list on draft day since they first came out.
2007 Nick Fazekas
2008 Mario Chalmers
2009 DeJuan Blair (overall Pelton #1)
2010 Hassan Whiteside
2011 Kawhi Leonard | | Shelvin Mack
2012 Marcus Denmon
2013 Jeff Withey
2014 Nikola Jokic (Pelton #4)
2015 R.J. Hunter
2016 Fred Van Vleet
2017 Monte Morris
2018 Dzana Musa
2019 Dedric Lawson | Bol Bol
2020 Tyrese Haliburton (Pelton #3)
2021 Alperen Sengun (Pelton #1)
9) Tori Eason; Jeremy Sochan
Best Pelton likely to be available at 9 that won't be available at 20.
20) Walker Kessler
Pelton has Kessler at #2 behind Holmgren. Kessler's block rate in a top conference is the best since block rates have been measured. He's solid in pick n roll. Walker projects better in the NBA than Rudy Gobert did his draft year. And yes, Pelton has adjusted his system to fit the "new" NBA. Traditional centers are not as highly rated nowadays. If the Spurs only had #9, then I'd want Kessler there. But I believe every mock that has Walker going before 20 also has the Spurs picking Duren. By not picking Duren at 9 makes Kessler very likely to be available.
25) Gabriele Procida, Nikola Jovic
Drafting four, then need a stash. Pelton has Procida as #16 but mocks ignore, Jovic is much lower, but mocks love.
38) Hyunjung Lee
On almost no mocks, and none not 50+, Lee is the best shooter in the history of his midmajor college. Not the best player, not the best scorer, but the best shooter, particularly with catch and shoot. And as a college player Lee was a better shooter than the current catch and shoot partner of the2nd best shooter in the history of that midmajor. Again, not the better player, just the better college catch and shooter.
Thanks for sharing that Drom…. Quite a lot of misses there lol a few unexpected hits too.

Sure, and I have acknowledge that. I listed them anyways, just in case. But I'm sure at least one of those will be available. I'm hoping the players the Spurs pick come from those lists I posted for each spot.
Serious question, 2 years from now.... if Primo never pans out and it's pretty clear the Spurs whiffed hard on tonight....does BWrong get canned? How long is this dummy's leash exactly tbh?![]()
betting odds are adjusted because of the money coming in on a particular bet. If some bettors are gambling (imagine that) on a return because of high odds, rather than reality or inside information, then the odds can be volatile because the betting pool is very small. Think about it. How many bettors even know you can bet on this propostion of who is #1 pick? Further, how many really want to gamble on that propostion? (addictive gamblers; insiders???). Finally, how many of the gamblers will actually risk money on a favorite if the return is going to be minimal? That's why you see some action on long shots in a horse race. The long odds attract bettors who think they can hit the jackpot with long odds if they bet on it.
Gambling books therefore try to balance their "book" of bets by adjusting the odds to get the book balanced so that no matter who wins they get a percentage. The ideal book odds are 50% betting on one side and 50% betting on the other side of a proposition. The Gambling book gets the "vig" without losing a dime.
per woj, cleveland grabbing Sac's pic at 49 for the rights to Sasha Vezenkov.
He did very well at the tradeline to got us 2 FRP’s, swap pick with Boston, J-Rich. Tbh he won me back and expecting the kid will deliver again tonight. Positive vibes![]()
Do you think he makes decisions unilaterally? There's literally a group of Spurs execs who munch through data and discuss this and come up with a plan together.
Mainly true, but vegas will gamble too so to say and hold steady on a certain spread for example even when 90% of the public is on it
Well I don't expect the old man to go away anytime soon. But if I had my way, I'd fire his old ass too tbh![]()
Did you live in SA prior to the 2013 & 2014 seasons and just not follow basketball before then? Pretty interesting that you started watching around that time as the Spurs were playing some amazing basketball those seasons.
My first game was May 16, 1979 while in the Army. We were up 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Championship series and lost at home to the Bullets 108-100. The Bullets went on to win at home in the next game and went on the lose to the Sonics in 5. I always though we would have been a better matchup against the Sonics. Been a fan of the Spurs ever since and was there for game 7 when we beat the Pistons. Absolute bedlam.
Don't really want Collins any way.
Yea I moved to SA in 2010, and lived there until 2015. Husband was in the army… I wasnt a fan of basketball at all before. Only vaguely knew that the Spurs had won championships the decade before from like the news, not because I had watched any games. Ironically if you had asked me to name a Spur around the time the only one I could have named was Tony bc of his marriage to Longoria and that whole thing, not for basketball reasons. Jaja
Ironically, when the Spurs made that run in 2013, I just watched them casually flipping channels at home, but was still very casual at that point. When they made the finals I was like Wait, wait, wait, the Spurs are in the finals? Frankly I thought they were no longer a good team, that is how casual I was. My reaction to game 6, is WTH is going on with Ginobili? LIke why is he having all these TO? Then I was heartbroken they lost, when I had just started to pay attention to them. I really didnt care for basketball before then. I did get to experience the 2014 season in all its glory, probably yea, the beautiful game won me over for the sport as a fan. I am a product of that era as a fan.
As a side note, I didnt get to watch Nowitzki in all his glory either. I would have liked to have seen the Dallas run when they won their championship. I knew just because it was in the news and everywhere that people were happy that Lebron lost, but I didnt understand the reason until much later, the super team, the way he announced he was leaving Cleveland with a media show like appearance. There was a bunch there I just knew from the news but didnt understand later. I have since watched highlights of Nowitzki at the time and cant help admire what he achieved and was happy for that team and for him.
A lot of things I have learned about basketball afterwards. Interesting heh?
lakers get orlando's 35th pick for a future 2nd rounder and cash
Especially at the expense of Murray. Just seems like a treadmill move, even if we did pick up another draft pick or two...
