I doubt there will be any criminal upshot for attempting to interfere with a congressional investigation, but it doing so does add to the perception of corruption and criminality around the former president. A lot of today's testimony tends to establish state of mind and intent. Even if no criminal charges are brought, the image of Trump scheming until the last to cling to power and siccing a violent mob on the US Capitol to derail certification will be hard to dispel.
Details like Trump's lunch tantrum or trying to choke Engle, dramatic as they are, aren't so significant as the cabinet level discussions of invoking the 25th.
That Trump actually intended to go to the capitol and demanded to be driven there after his speech was the most surprising detail today for me.
Trump's fellow Rs in the WH are really doing a number on him in these hearings.
Meadows and Giuliani asking for pardons the next day doesn't look great.
I believe there was far more serious things revealed…
the fact that MOST of trumps inner circle KNEW about the impending violence and didnt try to cancel beforehand
that trump and his inner circle KNEW the mob was armed and ready for war - and trump actually wanted the magnetometers removed because they werent there to hurt HIM
that he assaulted a member of his own secret service team
that his VP was actually sent into the capitol as “bait” while the potus “cheered on his executioners”
that the entire WHITE HOUSE STAFF- knew a mob were headed to the capitol and NONE of them alerted any law enforcement authorities and/or signaled the alarm BEFORE people were hurt/killed
WHILE TRUMP ACTUALLY WAS DYING TO JOIN THE MOB so badly that he assaulted his security detail which was protecting him
a presidential staff- ALLOWING a mob they had assembled - to attack the capitol unimpeded
