4.2 billion people around the world are on social media of some kind. its how people communicate, keep in touch, etc. i dont think the solution to harassment is to become a hermit

Also, "they" isn't this nebulous blob that gets on this mysterious website called "social media". It's each individual's experience on various platforms. So, each individual can simply avoid said platform, and the market should take care of itself. Also, what's the odds these same people simply don't feel safe regardless? >50% of transgender boys considered suicide last year. Pretty sure safety isn't their strong suit.

no i was just able to read the article headline and use some reading comprehension to deduce that they appear to feel unsafe of social media generally and werent referring to any single particular platform
You can set your profiles to private and only interact with the people you want to interact with. Nobody is forcing you to interact with people who hate you. You can’t walk into a Klan rally and then complain about feeing unsafe, you put yourself in that position.
