I understand the notion that certain parts of the South considers the Confederacy a source of pride. But even in that case it's for the wrong reasons. The confederacy didn't stand up to "big bad government", it just really wanted to keep it's slaves and racism intact. They lost the war, thus will always be treasonous losers.
The butthurt was so severe, and in some cases still is, that the government had to pass the Voting Rights Act back in '65 to monitor these southern States to enforce racial discrimination-free voting. Section 5, which was the main vehicle was valid and current up to 2013(!), when the SCOTUS deemed it might no longer be appropriate or needed (and that's certainly debatable). That was the ugly reality of it.
Shows like the Dukes of Hazzard portrayed the flag to place the show in the South, and that's about it. The show generally imparted a positive message. Frankly it's a show that was made at a time where the racial landscape was very different in the country, and despite that everyone knew the racial underpinnings of that Southern Pride, people looked the other way. Many decades later, we realize that's wrong.
We're here today, and the only thing that LaShonda coming into the tattoo parlor and getting inked a confederate flag tells me is that the American education system failed her, or that she's feeling left out.
That's a nice swerve. This will never be about me, Joey, no matter how hard you try. Winners write history, and the Confederacy found itself in the loser's pile. It is what it is.
Joey still easy as ever to trigger
damn near 40 and still has no self control![]()
Yeah bro I'm not disputing anything to do with the Civil War and this is where you're completely off base because you're arguing a point I'm not even touching.
You think we're discussing the Civil War Confederates and what that flag meant to "them". How cute...![]()
I'm having a conversation with Nono bro.. Stay the out of it you ing pussy. You're a pussy bro just like BlaKKKe and a few others here. Do us a favor, instead of ing about nothing, entertain us with more fairytales about meeting me in person you ing pussy.![]()
That's exactly where that flag comes from. The thing is, you think you can somehow keep the Southern Pride while removing the racial underpinnings of it, and that's precisely where you're wrong.
That might've been the case in the 70's or 80's, mostly because people would rather look the other way, but it's not the case today.
LMAO I think? Bro IDGAF about the flag in the least. You leftists are all the same unfortunately. Keep jumping to conclusions Mr. Assumption.
And yeah it's still the case today all around the nation but unfortunately for you you have no idea yet you think you do.
Here's your faux W bro.![]()
Joey has no self control![]()
of course you give a , we wouldn't be having this conversation otherwise.
You keep tossing around the "ghosts of the lefties" and "jumping to conclusions", yet you don't counter anything I said nor state what any of those things are. Difficult to have any kind of conversation like that, tbh...
What am I supposed to counter exactly? The bull beliefs you're under and spouting here as if they're truth? Bro you're out of your element on this one but you got your faux W so what are you upset about again?
You pulling a Dumpster on me in this thread? Merrygoround bull .
And you lie out your ass but seeing how it's a huge gaping hole it's understandable. Again, tell us all about that day you met up with me face to face.
You're a ing pussy BD.
What "beliefs" would that be? The Civil War happened. It was a ing war with secession included. The confederacy lost that war. That's exactly where that flag comes from. The confederacy fought to keep the slave trade. The VRA is a real law.
They're called facts Joey, there's no 'belief' or 'faith' in any of it. The confederate flag has a direct and implicit connection to the slave trade and white supremacists.
In his Cornerstone speech, the Confederate Vice President Alexander H. Stephens, said: Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.

It's one ugly part of American history. Nothing necessarily wrong with that, almost every country has one or more of those. However, being in denial doesn't make it not true.
What's next? The new country band called the "Klu Klux Klan" that just happen to wear white robes and hoods, but that's not racist because that was a long time ago...
It's stupidity, that's what it is.
All you need to know is the Northern Democrats were fighting the Southern Democrats. The Republican Party was formed to free the slaves and the Ku Klux Klan was formed by the Democrats. The Confederate battle flag was never the official flag of the Confederacy. In 1948, the newly-formed segregationist Dixiecrat party adopted the flag as a symbol of resistance to the federal government. Don't bother with that beep boop imo tbh.![]()
That's all well and good, but someone I know gave a black person a tattoo of a swastika, so obviously that means all black people past present and future love Nazis
That argument is so bad it's not even a matter of knowing history, just understanding basic logic. For the sake of humanity i hope he's trolling
"Some day the mountain might get 'em, but the law never will."
Why did you worship the Democrat confederacy and flag? We Democrats do not.
definitional fraud
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/26/u...rs-emails.html“We would just be sending in ‘fake’ electoral votes to Pence so that ‘someone’ in Congress can make an objection when they start counting votes, and start arguing that the ‘fake’ votes should be counted,” Jack Wilenchik, a Phoenix-based lawyer who helped organize the pro-Trump electors in Arizona, wrote in a Dec. 8, 2020, email to Boris Epshteyn, a strategic adviser for the Trump campaign.
In a follow-up email, Mr. Wilenchik wrote that “‘alternative’ votes is probably a better term than ‘fake’ votes,” adding a smiley face emoji.
kind of wild/creative -- happy to discuss![]()
lol
But even Mr. Mastriano needed assurances to go along with a plan other Republicans were telling him was “illegal,” according to a Dec. 12 email sent by Ms. Bobb that also referred to Mr. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City.
“Mastriano needs a call from the mayor. This needs to be done. Talk to him about legalities of what they are doing,” she wrote, adding: “Electors want to be reassured that the process is * legal * essential for greater strategy.”
that's probably the most racist I ever read on this board..
