What "beliefs" would that be? The Civil War happened. It was a ing war with secession included. The confederacy lost that war. That's exactly where that flag comes from. The confederacy fought to keep the slave trade. The VRA is a real law.

They're called facts Joey, there's no 'belief' or 'faith' in any of it. The confederate flag has a direct and implicit connection to the slave trade and white supremacists.

It's one ugly part of American history. Nothing necessarily wrong with that, almost every country has one or more of those. However, being in denial doesn't make it not true.

I don't know how much more clear I have to make this: You can't disconnect the Confederate flag from the Civil war. Much like you can't disconnect the swastika from Nazism, or white robes and klan-looking white hoods from the Klan. It doesn't work that way, not in this day and age.

I mean, it would be convenient to try to do that, but any person that's not illiterate or a re can see right through it, because you effectively cannot split one from the other. That's what history does to symbols.
