Really? I created this thread in support of the player as well as outlined my beliefs regarding the player……
Ok, so star, role player, something else? What is your take?

Ha. I’m not upset if someone likes Primo and thinks he’ll be great. That’s preferred if he pans out. Seems hard to have a fixed belief in much so far, though. It’s going to be an evolving process, like with every player, but more so for him considering his age, his high draft pick, and the hopes/expectations that he can be a star. To me, there isn’t much to argue about.

The 12th pick should not garner lofty expectations based off historical data……… Secondly, the kids makeup from what I perceive has me thinking he will be a star. I could be a 1000% wrong but I choose not to waffle on this projection Clear enough?

So, there are only 2 NBA speeds, Ja and Slowmo? If Kyle is a 0, and Ja is a 10, Primo is like a 7. Just because he’s not Ja quick, it doesn’t make him slow.
To paraphrase Offset Formation take on his speed, like me, he didn't see Primo break down or past his defender last year. Seems like every time he wound up being defended well and had to pull up for his shot or simply get mired in the paint area without a place to go. I'd call that a lack of speed, but if you see it as a 7 on a 1 to 10 scale, we just don't agree. And if he gets a lot bulkier from working out, I doubt that will increase his quickness.

I wish him the best in developing a skill set that will be valuable to the team. I hope he proves to be a legit lottery pick by his 3rd year. We'll see.

A lot of people on here I see don’t know the history of success & failure of lottery picks late in the draft ( a simple google search ) Hopefully the little boy that was playing against grown men last year learned something but who knows

Primo is deceptively strong. He's got a tim Duncan type base in a guards body. Similar to Scottie Barnes. A little upper body strength isn't going to really slow him down. I'm not worried about that at all. Trivial point to be making.

He needs to work in his change of pace and direction. Think Paul Pierce tbh..... Never a great athlete... Used strength, his body and change of pace and direction.

I'm all for added muscle up top. Easier to part the red seas and better compliments his strengths.

Another very poor comparison is Nephew.
He rarely blows by people but uses his strength, length etc to get his shot off. Now of course Primo doesn't have his length

We'll see- he's a lottery pick but also a12th pick.
Historically only about 12-13% of picks in that range become all stars

Primo makes Kyle Anderson look like Michael Johnson

It's just hard to tell if it's something mentally or physically. Yes the kids body language shows confidence and nonchalant which isn't a negative persay however he does need seem to be falling on the extreme side of that and it would be nice to see him turn the dial up a bit. Not panicked, but more sense of urgency in his movement would be nice.

Who, besides unnamed timvp sources, stated that Primo will play pg? Even in the summer league he was a secondary ballhandler.
By the way, in the G-League he coped well with the role of the main playmaker, and there the level of basketball is higher than in the summer league.
Brian Wright also talked about moving him into a ball handling combo guard role and that they envisioned him as PG down the line.

I wish I could roll with you that the madness was only coming from timvp's sources, but the ing GM of the team said the same without saying the same.

Any person who takes their actual time to make an article about the few times they are right is sketchy as — is all I’m saying. If that’s an unpopular opinion, so be it.

Let folks continue on their worship.
You're aware that your gotcha on timvp falls flat when Brian Wright also alluded to what LJ's sources have said too?

I think only 12-13% are still in the league at 5 or 6 years is the stat I remember seeing. I suppose both could be right but yours is definitely half glass full, even though I know that wasn't the intent of your stat.

Not only that, the worst part is that once he got bogged down in the paint he made horrible decisions with the ball and either made a terrible pocket pass in traffic or incompetently threw it back out to a guarded man leaving no time to get a good shot off elsewhere.

Unless ppl think Wesley is going to see heavy minutes in his rookie year, roster makeup alone says Primo will be playing most his minutes at the point.

Yeah that wasn't the intent of my stat. Probably putting the opposite way might have made my point better.
I don't think people realize what a crap shoot the draft is.

Definitely a crap shoot when you are trying to grab a star player, which means someone 18 or 19 years old. I would think drafting role players has better success, but maybe not? I don’t get too deep in statistics. Regardless, drafting Primo as a star player was pushing the narrow window for success even smaller because he was a role player in college and never showed or got to show much. It’s his confidence/personality mostly that got him drafted, along with good shooting form and a good combine.
