    So this is one pole:

What are the other poles in this "multipolar" world?
Russian copium huffers said that the UKR offensive was only for the purpose of showing these donors that some progress was being made, and not to really do anything.

Funny thing is that lend-lease will start kicking in soon. The coming shipments will dwarf anything delivered to date.

Meanwhile, the Excalibur rounds for the M777 howizers are showing up.

These rounds make the trip sevens into essentially extremely large caliber sniper rifles. Accurate to within 2m at 40km range.

    Bye-bye Russian C2

Note the second half there: "and European countries threatened by Russia".

This means U.S weaponry is going to the Baltics, so UKR can ship their old Russian guns, ammo, and tanks to UKR, to help them keep some supplies for their older Russian crap.

That a country like Ukraine doesn't stand a snowball's chance in of defeating Russia. Russia is on par with China and the US in military might. If Russia negotiates it will be because Putin got what he wanted.

(refers to RUS arty officer interrogation results: "we didn't know how to shoot our guns, so we didn't fire them")

    Balakiya down.

Russians were counting on this city to anchor defenses in the region.

This leaves the road to Izium WIDE OPEN.

Izium = Supply hub for the entire eastern Front. Threatening it, means UKR has "fire control" on main Russian supply route in the east.

is about to go down. Russia drained this area to send reinforcements to Kherson, and delay the inevitable. UKR has started creating kettles with multiple breakthroughs, and we may see some serious surrendering of Russian units in the next few days, if RUS cannot push back the pincers. This seems unlikely, as RUS command and control has been overwhelmed. RUS simply does not have the command capacity to manage an active mobile battle, and the troops wouldn't have the training to effectively carry out orders even if that were not the case.

I mean...it's a weird deal. I'm pulling for Ukraine but it's possible that ends up being worse for the rest of the world.

    Unconfirmed, AFAIK.

    But, if true... holy balls.

Lt. Colonel may be a Lt. General. Note the two stars on the guys shoulders, that matches the stars on the generals picture.

    (edit)

Yeah that's not confusing. LT GEN = two stars vertical, LT COL = two stars horizontal like the camo guy. who knows?

Guess no one was really expecting the russians to fold like one of Hater's predictions.

The destruction of Russia as a nation state would be a good thing generally for the rest of the world. It is a malevolent, fascist cancer, that has openly been waging a war on democracy itself in the west for close to twenty years.

Yeah...but I can't see the destruction of Russia without Putin shoosting off missiles.

No one will have to invade them. Historically strong men and the empires/countries that badly lose wars do not survive very long after.

Of note: Wargaming the UKR war in simulations with humans playing roles of major strategic actors often have the Russians escalating by using WMD on a secondary city. Western foreign policy needs to be very clear that is a red line.

Sure. But once nukes start flying, it's done for the world as we know it.
