On the contrary, I see him with better control of the ball. It's his passes that he needs to make strong, crisp passes. But I rather he tries and make mistakes passing the ball right now. He will eventually learn to adjust the timing as he gets more experience. Primo will be okay.
Passing isn't something one typically does a 180 on. It's about geospatial awareness and processing of others locations in motion. Some people are able to snapshot that in their minds and make the proper feed with the right tempo and location. Others can't. He doesn't process this well. And he never has.

By the way, as for giving him time, that's one reason a few of us are perturbed by the idea of slotting him unto the PG position because it's the one spot on the floor that demands someone be able to do what I described above with the best precision and frequency. Coaches should have him progressing that skill from the wing first then MAYBE try the guard spot.

Also, he's been playing with a ball in his hands since he was like 8. You get a feel for it when you're very young. Or you don't. He hasn't. Also it's noticeably worse when he's not in a set half-court offense. And he's atrocious in traffic.

I'll say again, Sochan is a better passer than Primo. By a mile. Why? Because he's able to process the locations of the people around him on the fly and in motion.

Perhaps if he played a different position, as I've been saying since day 1, sure.

Notice again how most of his points came off assisted shots. He takes 1 or 2 dribbles at most. This is how he gets his rhythm best. It’s nothing like Paul George. Hope it continues this way.

Total gamechanger on offense. Probably what’s most impressive was his leadership on the court today. His teammates were matching his energy and they were playing with a purpose.

Motion offense as oppose to iso/hero ball. On the downside, Devin also needs to develop iso game and break defense if he’s going to be a primary/secondary option because that’s what you need in a closer. Right now I don't see him doing that or trying to post any player. If ever Primo is the one who can play iso/post up ala Demar (I think that’s what Pop has in mind giving him the ball and not necessarily playing PG), when they need to score or closing a game. A long way to go.

He looks a lot more control, mixing it up but not forcing it. Keldon is growing as an All-Star right before our eyes, and he has the charisma around peers in the league.

Highlights suggest some nice synergy with KJ, Devin, and Yak. And maybe, less expectations for Sochan to provide points? But didn’t see the game. Any takeaways, in addition to what Dejounte added?

I’ve always said that a team’s ceiling is measured from your top two or three players. When your top two or three are decent, everybody else plays off of that. That’s why I scoff at the statements being made that the whole roster from top to bottom sucks. It doesn’t matter how bad your #4 guy to your #15 guy are. This is not me saying KJ, Vassell, Yak are suddenly top echelon players, but what I am saying is that it’s pointless to make judgments on rotations where the top three guys aren’t playing. This is also me saying that the team doesn’t need a complete rehaul, but only a couple lucky shots at developing/ attaining a franchise cornerstone. They don’t need multiple years of losing seasons. They aren’t that far away. You get one, and another player on the same roster probably rises to the occasion because the first guy unlocked it. Domino effect.

Jazz losing the battle so they can win the tank war tbh

Vassel might have a breakout year...meaning we will try to lowball him on his contract, he will say no, and get traded in 2 years tbh

IMO, you don’t need to fit a square peg into a round hole. We get first round picks every year. It could be any of those guys or someone else from the current roster. Moving Vassell’s role to something that isn’t tailor fit for him (and I get it, it could be developed. But that’s not always the case for everybody) could potentially hamper his development. It’s like if your kid was good at soccer and you’re trying to force him to play baseball. There are legends who made a living off of not being a closer. Vassell can be clutch just by scoring off screens. Ray Allen was at his best when he was the second or third guy. And yes, I imagine there will be plenty of opportunities for him to go ISO this year, but I just doubt it will go anywhere. Klay’s just fine being Klay, he doesn’t need to be the guy that handles the ball like Curry.

It will be interesting to see how Devin progresses and how he focuses his game. I agree that self creation isn’t really where he’s at yet. And like you said, a few dribbles and a pull up seems to be just fine for him. He could be some sort of homeless man’s version of Ray Allen or Reggie Miller running off screens, I could see that working too.

The togetherness of the young pups is awesome.
So much communication and strong leadership on the squad.
They will lose plenty of games, no doubt.
KJ and Vassell really complement each other and make other player's roles more clear.
Really nice to see this. Also, must remember the opponent. Might be the worst team in the league. Gotta celebrate the positives when they happen, nonetheless.

No Lamelo to start the season either so a very winnable game we’d like to lose. Not a chance that FRP conveys in 2023.

Yes, but he gets lost on defense a lot. I am nervous that he will never play enough defense to get on the floor.

What hurts Charlotte, too... other than the fact LaMello is pretty lazy and not actually that compe ive... is that they fired Borrego, who is a good coach, in good part because he didn't play their two rookies. Really their roster is kind of bad, and those two rookies in Kai Jones and Boukknight didn't deserve playing time at all. They look very very far from being NBA players.

Right now, I have a feeling they're going to "win" the sweepstakes.

The old school trio of Jordan, Kupchak, Clifford, might not engage in new age midseason tanking shenanigans (which could help one's cause), but this is still setting up as a disastrous season as is so as to have a decent enough chance that if the league rigs it for them, it won't seem unbelievable.
