Trump has tasted the wine of power, he's never going to be out of the game. If he gets thrown in the pokey he'll put on the cheap glamor of the martyr.
He lost to a near 80 year old guy who campaigned from his basement and who can barely complete a coherent sentence. He is so embarrassed that he cant stop talking about 2020, even 2 years later. I think he knows that his psyche cant handle another loss to Biden's corpse and so this is all a big front to gain GOP majorities in congress that paralyze Joe from getting anything done for the rest of this term.
In the end, since the elite never really do any time, he will probably work out some hush-hush deal behind closed doors that helps him avoid time, but essentially ends his political career.

the GOP has literally no bench behind Trump DeSantis though. Who's going to run? The cat is out of the bag so it's not going to be a Pence or Bush type of old guard neocon/rino. Kari Lake? Looks like polls have her firmly winning AZ governor and she has the Trump sort of moxie.
