Russia is going to to play the long game here. If the world economy can get worst and worst, I don’t think the west can sustain the support they’re providing to Ukraine..
Tough too imagine what would happen in a few years, but if another war breaks out somewhere else that needs western support..that might be a wrap from Zelenskyy and his boys.
but who knows..Russia is way too incompetent. Their best chance was the first two weeks of the war, and they came unprepared, and not fully committed.
Russia possibly giving Iran assistance for their nuclear weapon program in order to “pay” for drones and ballistic missiles.
Israel will be put in an interesting situation. They will NOT allow this.
Israel will not help Ukraine with the Iron Dome defensive equipment right now. This might change.
Or, worse… Israel might make an effort to stop Iranian assistance to Russia which would involve hitting Iranian transport of weapons to Russia.
This would not be good for what is now a geographically limited conflict. Iran is already in a degrading internal social situation.
None of the nuclear super powers want another unstable country with nukes. Russia providing help… not good for anyone. Hopefully this is not happening but it’s out there. See ISW. They are saying it could be happening. More to come.
The Supposed super powers are probably the least trustworthy people to own nukes. I guess they can nuke a city and just say it was for freedoms anyway. Lol. Those freedom bombs in illegitimate wars in Iraq, Afghanistan very few of the people there even supported them aren’t necessarily something that screams..trustworthy.
There is no war that will be more important than this, unless we're talking something with China, but then that will be world war 3 and the west will then switch to war economy. All the support now is just chump change for the west, the entire west is still on the peace time defense budgets. Most of the donated equipment is old stuff, that would be written off anyway in a couple of years.
And it's not like west stopping support to Ukraine would somehow magically jump start the world economy. The war is one of the factors behind the economy issues, but not the only one.
In fact, cutting support might make it worse for the west, as it might encourage more similar wars around the world and thus more instability and global supply chain disruptions.
The best way for the west to get back to peaceful and prosperous ways is to slap Putin and show the entire world like this will not be tolerated.
Russia is ed, they don't have long term means to drag out the war and they can't compete economically with what is 60% of world's GDP. They were planning for a short war and then a bit longer sanctions similar to the ones in 2014, what they got is much, much worse. They are desperate to find a way to win, but at this point it's just a sunk cost fallacy. At this point it's only a question of how badly will they lose, and how many people will have to die before that.
