great deal to lock him up long term for cheap
great deal to lock him up long term for cheap
Is the remainder of this season Year 1 of the contract? If so, I wonder if the value declines each year, with this year and next year being the only fully guaranteed seasons? If that is the case, Bassey would make 5.6 between now and the conclusion of next season.
Nice! Gotta see the details but four years of control for $10.2 million would be a major W. If he turns out to be a long-term backup center, that's a good deal. Any more than that and it's a great deal.
4/10? Awesome value . I know scott is thrilled about this
Brian keeps getting it Wright

I remember a highly intelligent and humble poster who claimed a while back that he'd eventually receive a contract somewhat similar to Eubanks, just can't think of exactly who it was . . .
Yeah, that's a good question. Start it big and guaranteed and then decline the dollar amounts and include team options -- that'd be best case scenario for the Spurs.
that decline will favor trade value if SA wants to flip this house down the line
all brilliant strategic positioning from Spurs FO
well , the deal is cheap in general. If Bassey does anything remotely right he will be a hot trade commodity if the team wants that.
I'm really bullish on Bassey and am glad they brought him in. Aside from being a great rebounder and athletic shotblocker, he has skills the team hasn't even tapped into yet. He has a legit outside shot. I feel like they've kept him under wraps until they moved players (Poeltl) at the deadline and are ready to work with him.
Am I the only one who wants him to be the starting Center? This is exactly what the Spurs should do, lock these type of players up on cheap deals, favorably declining to use more of the cap space now. I don't see him as a trade asset, I think he's a legit part of the future, even if it just means backing up Wembenyama
We upgraded at center for less money. B-Wright making more Wright moves
If only they can get a young Tim Duncan to go with young Malik Rose
Mathew tynan[Also important to note: A deal of this length will give the Spurs Bassey’s full Bird Rights if they guarantee the contract all the way through. So if he really pans out (obviously a big IF at this point) they’ll have no real complications toward signing him beyond this dealing
surprised he wanted to sign a contract that long. great deal tbh
Great deal for us to be honest. Not going to blow you away as far as his stat line goes, but a serviceable enough guy and a solid backup.
Might be a phantom 4 years with like two of the last years being player options.
Your earlier point is taken, TimVP. It's a good deal regardless. My curiosity on the structure is just wondering where it falls on the spectrum of good to great.
Extremely thrilled! My alma mater putting a big man in the pros with a mutli-year deal! A big feat considering most of our team was made up of 5'4" Chicanos when I went there!
I'm obviously bullish on my man, but I think he can definitely be our starting center!
This news plus the Poeltl trade means lots and lots of minutes for Bassey the rest of the season imo. Might as well give him a handful of starts too.
There is development and than there is just throwing dudes into the fire. I subscribe to the so called “DJ/Stack” mind games of making them earn that . Works well in the early days for young talent.
Zollins, Tre, Vassell, Keldon need to get their shine while dudes are sitting back in the cut patiently waiting. Those potential trade chips will be worth more as other guys potentially take their slot as we proceed.
Great deal, win-win situation. Well worth the money even at his current level, but as already said, I think he has a lot more to offer.
looking forward to seeing what he can do for the rest of the season
