I can name a couple reasons for a militia. 1: One of the main reasons why the United States is difficult for another country to invade is because we have an armed population. 2: Should our own (or any other government) attempt to rule by force against the will of the people, then a civilian militia could create insurgency that the goverment cannot control. As far as the flammable liquid... jesus christ do you have no vision at all. The government has ALREADY regulated firearms. For example, you cannot own a fully automatic weapon, cannot have beyond a certain magazine size etc. Now as far as the drug issue you brought up... let me make this simple. If you don't do the drug, then there is no need to supply the damn thing. The dealers will disappear as well as the supply because nobody is ing buying it.

I would love to see you take out a pack of feral hogs with a revolver. How about a bear? How about a pack of dangerous stray dogs in your neighborhood? There are reasons far outside of self defense against people that these weapons are useful for. I would much rather have the AR than a revolver if I am faced with such cir stances.
