You missed the update, Fuzzy.
Not saying that it is not true but that article doesn't specify whether or not the Office of the AG or Paxton himself assumes liability.
You missed the update, Fuzzy.
brassy

Under questioning in a House Appropriations subcommittee, Paxton's staff maintained that the OAG is the defendant, not Paxton personally
The State of Texas has spent roughly $600,000 so far fighting former employees of the Office of the Attorney General in court over their whistleblower lawsuit against AG Ken Paxton.
felony indicted AG settles with former staffers who accused him of taking bribes, retracting and apologizing for his former characterization of the whistleblowers as rogues. and meekly beseeching the Texas Lege to pay the expenses of his office. for taking bribes and skirting legal responsibility for corrupting his office and retaliating on the whistleblowers
new frontiers in brazenness.

What argument and admission of wrong doing. Cheaper to pay now than fight.
Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office made its case on Tuesday for state budget writers to fund a $3.3 million whistleblower settlement, saying the cost to keep fighting the lawsuit would be far higher.
But the attorney general ducked a question about whether he would tap his own campaign coffers if the Legislature won’t pay the tab with taxpayer dollars.

A group of whistleblowers who sued Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office are calling off a settlement they reached after
the state agency refused to agree to the terms, lawyers said Wednesday.
The $3.3 million settlement agreement, reached last month, was contingent on funding approval from state lawmakers.

Good news.

If this actually goes thru.... they gained a bit of respect.
Paxton must be a heavy anchor.
Must be a good replacement candidate for the red team.

If the House impeaches, Paxton will be suspended from office until the Senate trial concludes.
Impeachment articles here:
https://www.texastribune.org/2023/05...s-impeachment/
Remember when Democrats forced Democrat Al Franken out of a Senate seat for making gropey hands in an old photo?
Hence why Paxton has been going after Phelan, accusing him of being drunk during session
Republican GOP already came out supporting Paxton, because of course they did
Snacks still loves Paxton.
Sounds like TX bag Repugs have had enough of the scandals around bag Paxton.
Surprised if he keeps his job.
https://www.texastribune.org/2023/05...hment-updates/A member of the House General Investigative Committee said Attorney General Ken Paxton called several lawmakers and threatened them with political consequences if they voted for his impeachment.
“I would like to point out that several members of this House while on the floor of this House, doing the state business, received telephone calls from general Paxton personally, threatening them with political consequences in their next election,” state Rep. Charlie Geren said.
I wonder if his wife would recuse herself in a senate trial.
who am I kidding? Of course she wouldn't.
daboom1 tough day for your boy
