I don't know if you watched the game, but it looked like there was very little spacing for him to open up passing lanes to open guys.
Everyone kept kind of bunched up for some reason.
I will say the the gravity he produced on P&R's was amazing.
Age old basketball 101.
If you're doubled someone is open.

Hopefully Granpa on his own or by force will have an offense that features Wembys best aspects.
Still remember the cringy 25 point lead blown vs the Golden gots Zaza when Aldridge was clueless when double teamed.![]()
Nah, him and I are mostly in lockstep on this one.
i dno how many people here have actually said "wemby is/should be a point guard" but i think thats largely been a strawman. i dont care if you want to call him a forward or a center, because he kinda defies positions. the operative question is whether he is best fit playing alongside another "center" or not... ie would he be better off in a lineup where the next biggest Spur is Zach Collins, or in a lineup where the next biggest spur is Jeremy Sochan
would be matchup dependent, and we probably see both over the course of any game.
Probably matchup dependent, but I dont want to see him bodied constantly. There are a lot of thicker players shorter than him only too happy to lay elbows into his lower back and bang his knees and hips. That takes its toll over time.
yeah, and im not just thinking in terms of elite post players like embiid. but like... i dont want him banging with bears like Steven Adams, Ivica Zubac, jarrett allen
Yesterday's game was fun. Though game for Wemby but it's the kind of games that will make him grow. Bilal Coulibaly showed really nice things.
If they can win a third game, it would be a huge upset with ASVEL's payroll being something like 3 times higher than Mets.
On a side note, Zaccharie Risacher, who is projected as a top3 pick for 2024, is doing like Wemby and leaving ASVEL for next year. I wonder why all these young players are leaving a team led by such a great coach...
they are leaving cause ASVEL is trying to win championships, but draft picks want to show out, take more shots, etc. to increase their stock
Several young french prospects whose fathers played pro recently, like Risacher or Rayan Rupert (whose father, Thierry, tragically died at 35). And there are others.
Zach Collins or Sochan doesn't make much of a difference to me because Collins can easily interchange positions with Wemby both on offense and on defense. The problem for me comes with the idea of pairing Wemby with a more traditional center, like a Poeltl, which a lot of folks here are proposing. That kind of pairing would be taking away from the things that Wemby does best.
Game starts in 15 min, french league lovers.
Let's go!

Very strong start to the game for Wemby…couple nice blocks, drained a few jumpers, and just had a nice spin move in the low post to score an easy bucket.
edit: holy , just put his ball-handling on full display and shortly after drained an and-1 jumper
Those sidearm/slingshot passes from Wemby are nice.
Fall in the MJ "and I took that personally" mode against Wemby.
Tony took a page from Pop and turned off the A/C, lol.
Damn, deja vu with Jones getting the ice bag and going back in the tunnel again
why are these random scrubs from Mets 92 getting entire possessions to try and iso?
Haha that dude with the CELENE shirt sitting in the same spot as last game whats the deal lol
Maybe it's that heat, but Wemby looks so tired.
the amount of possessions where they dont even look in wemby's direction is criminal
