Maybe on defense, but they’re very different on the other end.
    hence the phrase 'small glimpse'.

And its more in terms of quickness and versatility on offense.

David was a 6’7” wing his first two years at the Academy. Even the NBA, most of his offense was facing the basket. The comparison would be valid.

Where’s Parker is a genuinely interesting and somewhat nagging question

Also, what’s going on with the shorts Vic? Is he going for a swim after?

Wemby expected to sign a $100M deal with Nike, which would surpass Lebron’s 2003 Rookie record deal of $90M. Wild.

But what about a signature sneaker? That’s just a matter of when, considering how much Nike is likely to invest to keep Wembanyama wearing the Swoosh. While details of his current deal are unclear, industry experts expect Wembanyama to eventually sign a deal with a total value of around $100 million. Sonny Vaccaro, the former Nike executive who signed Michael Jordan, told TMZ last year he expected Wembanyama to receive a “blank check.”
That would surpass the rookie record set by James in 2003 when he signed a seven-year, $90 million contract. The second largest deal was given to Zion Williamson just four years ago, as he signed a seven-year deal, $75 million with Jordan Brand (which is, of course, owned by Nike).

[nitpick]If the numbers aren't adjusted for inflation then LeBron's deal was worth more in real terms.[/nitpick]

In terms of hype, media presence, mass appeal, etc imo Wemby's already the biggest star the Spurs have ever had.

As Seventyniner stated inflation over 20 years would be significant. $90 million 20 years ago is probably around $150 million in 2023.

Good point. Inflation is almost twice right now what is was 20 years ago. Still a lot of money, but yea Lebron’s bag was something else, especially for an unproven high school kid. That’s how you know he was the most hyped prospect ever.

Not necessarily. He's just easier to market because he fits the most tried and true archetype to sell to the masses, particularly American: The Jordan model.

That means Sean is the 2, and David slides to the 3, leaving Timmy in his natural position at the 4.

10:59 Can you tell us about your diner with Spurs legends last night? What did they share with you and what did you take from it?
Wemby It really was one of the most invaluable nights of my life, I learned a tremendous amount within a couple hours. It's really reassuring seeing these guys still live in San Antonio, the fact that they still have a relationship with the franchise and the players.
These are not just Spurs legends but NBA legends that want to help me, and won't let me make mistakes twice. Honestly, of all the rookies, not only this year, but of all time, this has to be one of the best advantages you can get.

12:21 People talk about the legacy with Tim Duncan & David Robinson but there's also the legacy of French players here in San Antonio with Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, Ian Mahinmi... What do you think about this legacy, is it a boon? or a weight on your shoulders?
Wemby No, it's only positive. Because all the French players that had an impact here are people I have a great relationship with so I can call them if I need and they'll be there to help me.
It's really not a weight at all.

12:58 About next season, how do you think the NBA is going to change your game and your body?
Wemby Of course, first an important point is how seriously players are taken care of here, compared to other places in the world. Players are cared for so well here that everything is done for the player's progression & development. So of course, my game is going to evolve. People will expect different things of me in the NBA, I'll be able to develop new areas of my game. But the NBA game is what suits me best.

13:46 You talked about the Spurs legends that still live in San Antonio, is it something you could entertain? Spending your whole career here? maybe settle here afterwards? Did your first hours here make you want to do that?
Wemby Absolutely, my first hours here made me want to live here for a long time. Loyalty is something that's important to me, so, I don't know what the future holds but of course my ambition is to stay in the same franchise for a long time.

14:21 Clearly there is a lot of anticipation about your arrival in San Antonio, have you given yourself some personal goals as a player?
Wemby Of course, one of the first goals is to make an impression through my performances & helping the team, but I'll be patient with my first games and wait till I've had enough minutes in the NBA before giving myself specific goals. It's going to be a day to day grind.

15:12 Can you tell us about your arrival here, how welcome have you felt? You are going to be searching for a place to live, but do you already feel like home?
Wemby Absolutely, I feel like I'm in my rightful place. Since I've arrived I've only seen people happy about my arrival in this city. It's easy to settle into a situation when you feel appreciated. So yeah, I feel like I'm in my rightful place.

Yup. Pretty refreshing tbh. Can tell he was raised right and comes from a strong family.
