I was watching old videos of the 1983 Lakers-Spurs series. Kareem stayed long and lean his whole career. Artis Gilmore pushed him around in the paint, but Kareem got his with skill and finesse.

That’s how Victor is going to be. Just give him a couple of years.

It will be interesting to see him matchup with bigger 3/4's that are stronger and as quick as him

If teams are dumb enough in this day and age to game plan this, physicality in the paint against Victor, we’re going to win an awful lot of games. His standing reach is going to make pretty much every shot contested, even if you bump him to keep him on the ground. Contested twos are a slow death in todays NBA

The game has changed so much since then, but it still boggles me as to why no one.. I mean no one and more importantly no center .. mastered the sky-hook as Kareem did. I mean the shot brought Kareem so many scoring les and made him the hoopster with the most points (with barely a 3 pointer) and held the record for nearly four decades. The sky-hook is the ultimate skill-shot, almost pure art and nearly un-guardable.

Joker has shot a few "skyhooks" but the bulk of his similar-looking shots are plain hooks and not skyhooks (perpendicular to the hoop, on one foot and arm held very high, with the other arm shielding the defender from even trying to block it and *shot from a higher distance than closer to the basket as Jokic does mostly*)

It wasn't a perfect shot (got blocked by Hakeem and a couple of other centers0

Kareem also got his pushed in in the playoffs by every Tier 1 center : Walton, Moses (twice ), Dream

They didn't need to master the sky hook

As an avg height latino I use sky hooks to get shots off over taller more athletic players. All the youngsters then start with their old school remarks but are actually kinda fascinated cuz with all their skill and athleticism can't hit a hook to save their life

I'm well aware of what a sky hook is and I'm not talking about in-game shots. I'm talking about how ball is being played out there on the playground. Everybody learns the sky hook at an young age there, because certain shooting games that everybody plays on the regular require you to be able to shoot that shot. When you play 21 your 10th and 20th points have to be hit with a skyhook

TP having lunch with Vic at his home in SA, as Tony just returned from France, where he had been holding his youth basketball camp. All the people who questioned if their relationship was strained or why Tony wasn’t at the dinner last week can stop wondering now.

And this is me ignoring my wide open teammate Brent for the corner 3. Ah good times with Brent. I remember having sleep overs at his house.

Wemby has mentioned wanting to play the lakers a couple times now. Seems like he understands the rivalry already. Hopefully that’s all it is and he doesn’t have an infatuation with them tbh

Prob looking forward to playing Lebron and AD and co. during the regular season too to gauge where he’s at against a team like that.

Love that Tony Parker had to go with _TonyParker09 for his IG handle, which means someone else is running around with TonyParker09 holding out for a bag that Tony isn't coughing up

Are Wemby's siblings moving with him to SA or are they just here for the summer?

Both his siblings have already flown back to Paris, where I’m assuming they’ll continue to live as they’re both in basketball leagues over there. I imagine his family will go back and forth between here and Paris to support all 3 children. I know Wemby’s agent Jeremy Medjana (guy who posted the pic of he and Tony) is close with he and his family, so I assume he’ll be staying with Vic a lot as well. He only represents a couple other players (Rayan Rupert being one of them) so I think he has more leeway in terms of free time and where he stays.

FYI, they were watching the U19 world final (France lost against Spain).
That rivalry is becoming kinda weird.

He's also going to shoot 20 free throws a game because the rules no longer allow for old-school physicality that Spurstalk wants to sign Steven Adams to protect him from.

It just hit me that every time Wemby receives an award or accolade that announcers are going to say " To the Victor go the spoils."

Ugh! That would be a Walton staple if he were still doing NBA games.

That would definitely be a classic Walton-ism.

You're gonna hear the whole gamut of plays on Wemby's name this season, might as well just get used to it now.
