Except he's nearly 40 and coming off the worse year of his career. Plus, a one year rental isn't gonna do anything to speed up Wemby's development. It might have alleviated some pressure, but he'd need to make adjustments and improvements regardless.
And watching Tre jones miss wide open 3s and KJ barreling into the lane to take a contested shot is a much better way for him to develop. It would be one thing if we had another star player, but at this point not having a guy who can get the ball to Victor in his sweet spots is a disservice to him.

There's nothing many fans love more than the 5 second anecdotal evidence of a dunk highlight or an ankle breaker move on the perimeter. The fact that Wembanyama had 5 blocks, a dozen defensive dissuasions, and was +4 in a win where his shot wasn't dropping at all is never going to thrill people looking for the wow factor. The way Wemby becomes a generational player is by bending the opposing offense defensively with the same gravity that Steph bends defenses with his offense. He's already showing that. No highlight reel is going to show the many many times the opponent shies away from shot attempts, but if one attempt is successful, that's all over ESPN. Kai Jones' posterizing dunk was cute, but ultimately meaningless-- he took three shot attempts in 27 minutes. Charlotte's four bigs were a combined 7-23, and the team as a whole shot a 29.9 FG%. The point of Victor's ridiculous potential is that he can win games with just his D. When he adjusts after one summer league game and gets more attempts closer to the basket, his offense will be fine.

We had an all star in Murray. Should have built around him, not this euro trash who cant shoot. If i was Mr Holt this morning i would fire everyone responsible. What a joke.

gotta love that almost the entire team is out there. Keldon, Sochan, Vassell, Bassey, McDermott, Mamu, Graham and Zach Collins were all in the building. Tre Jones is probably still enjoying his honeymoon

You can see Victor's dad in the background behind Keldon Johnson in the Spurs players crowd shot.

Also, who is the end guy that Bassey is hugging on?

lol at Dev flinging Bassey's arm off from over his shoulder lol
Sorry, I’m not used to seeing stuff like that. When I saw it, I wondered if there was some bad blood going on or something lol. Was it supposed to be taken as a joke?

Yeah that was some weird energy for sure. I wonder if Bassey was just cheesin a bit too much and it was friendly like knock it off.

Kinda looked like Dev was just acting fake disgusted in response to the play because the Champ slam was so nasty?

Hope there isn't bad chemistry there.

Mentioned that him and Bullock overlapped when he was assistant GM of the Pistons in 2015. That he was a prototypical 3 & D guy.
Didn't seem to be any intention to move him at the moment.

Thought it was interesting that Reggie Bullock was tweeting reactions to Victor's game last night. Almost like "that's my guy" and it makes me think he is maybe going to stick around.

There's nothing about this guy that.doesn't work out perfectly.

A shaky start which will only cement the unconditional love he'll get from SA and their fans as he gets trashed in social media and the broader national media. He'll remember that forever. Perfect.
The silver lining of this is that as the national media and social media tears him down he's going to remember how the Spurs and their fans had his back and supported him during this ordeal. It doesn't guarantee he will be a Spur for life, but it gives a strong argument to Victor to why he should stay.

I guess that last roster spot might be a compe ion between Cedi, Lamar, and Bullock. Pretty weird imo

    ZC/CB/Mamu
    Wemby/Sochan/Doug
    KJ/Julian/Sidy?
    Dev/Branham/?
    Tre/Wesley/Graham

Cedi, Lamar, Barlow, Bullock dunking it out for the last spot.

Wemby was told to keep it low key and don't get hurt. He did as ordered. Keep some perspective on a preseason game.
I understand, and realize my take looks like an overreaction to this game, but I don’t mean it. I’m actually worried he’ll bee in some weird position, getting picked and bullied by athletic players with more regular NBA bodies

Is he faster or stronger than this? It’s hard to imagine how he will work out
