There are zero attainable free agents the next 2 summers under the age of 35 who could shepherd Wemby.
They couldn't afford VanVleet. They didn't get Chris Paul. They didn't move up to get someone this draft like Black or Wallace. They couldn't trade for Micic.
Tre Jones probably ain't that guy. Wesley really isn't that guy.
There isn't any help on the horizon. Atlanta picks down in value after the Murray extension. No guarantee they can draft a competent point guard year, even if they do that player might be 2-3 years away from developing themselves.
There might not be any good point guard play on this team at all for Wemby's entire rookie deal and that is bad news for his development.
Maybe the corpse of Lowry or the busting Suggs can help.

As others have already pointed out, one drawback to being so tall is that it's easy to attack his dribble. Reminds me of how Don Nelson played against Dirk in that '07 "We Believe" upset.
