The alternatives will never be as cheap as the fossil fuels that built modern civilization. It won't be too much longer, and fossil fuels will never be as cheap as the fossil fuels that built modern civilization. It's not doom and gloom though, future generations will just be forced to live more sustainably than we do.

The amount of stupidity in this is off the chart.
Read it closely. Modern civilization... fossil fuels... Its absolutely stupid to say something like this with technology expanding as rapidly into energy as it is now.
The amount of money due the abnormally rapid rise in CO2 is costing us right now is ridiculous. Is this in your accounting work?

These are happening much more frequently. He's got some serious issues going on mentally.
Coming from pizza and alien biomolecule man this is ironic.
You consistently put some of the most bizarre out on this board.
But I guess you are consistently in another world so its ok.

lol his budget for a bicycle is $1000. That's decent.
I rode a 3000 dollar bike and it was ridiculously easy. Im going in. (brakes were hydraulic, shifting gears was crazy easy to feel and so smooth/)
Its weird because my kayak is that expensive but I have gotten so much use and good times out of it that I compare it to a bike ride and it does not add up. I would much rather fish from a kayak in the heat than ride a bike.
Its like I want to have specific types of events occur more than I want objects. But I do need the objects to have a chance of experiencing a great time. As a child I remember having the most wonderful time with friends just playing in cardboard boxes. Maybe I should just have a bike shipped in and play with the packaging...

Also we get to 20 days of 100+ for 2023 today. Not much of a stretch to think we could be beyond that 50 year record total of 33 in 1948 by the end of July. This is definitely on track to be easily a top 5 hottest summer ever recorded here.

I have family in Salt Lake that I wanted to visit soon to get away from the heat but they're hitting 100 degrees almost every day this coming week

Late in our children’s lives 108-110 will be “normal.” Hopefully desalinization will be cheap. Even if it is, I expect that the Rust Belt will repopulate simply because its climate will still be tolerable.

Ain't got too far to go, will probably be the case by 2060. I can't see how desalinization would ever be cheap though.

Lower pressure drop through the reverse osmosis membranes would mean less energy to produce.

I think he's having some sort of mid-life crisis. Keeps talking about exercising obsessively trying to reverse the clock. Poor fella can't afford a decent bicycle at his age, I feel kinda bad for him.
You would know about mid-life crisis, tbh, especially after Old Joe took you for a spin, and you haven't recovered.

Just hoping it accelerates the cleansing of the Boomer population, tbh...

Curious...what is it exactly that you dislike about "boomers"? Do you hate your parents too?

No way this is a happening.
You actually have to take good care of these things I now find out.
I would have to learn something about these bikes for fixes.
I need something I can just throw in the back of my pickup and not think about it.

Probably shorter to describe what I like about them, tbh.

Too much stuff to list, but one of them is living large on the country's credit card, cheap mortgages and credit, and now telling future generations that they need to tighten the belt. This is also the generation that brought us NIMBYs, etc and all the me, me, me.

Boomers are by and large a US disease, my parents never lived here...

“Tighten the belts but don’t you touch my Medicare. I earned that right even though I voted for a guy who had absolutely NO PLAN to fix health care. And then I voted for him again knowing how much he spent, and how much he failed with healthcare and Covid”

I think the largest component is the way your generation voted from when you came into power in the 1980s and ever since.

It was it's worst with the Reagan hero worship while shoving through more supply side side stupidity in the era of Tea Party. Since then the generation ahs been dying off and less impactful except that the ruling class is generally all boomers.

Throw on top of that the typical human behavior of demonizing the youth and you get what you get.
