Atlas Shrugged Part II: 6/10. Obviously we find out to our horror that the complete cast from the movie just released one year ago has been replaced, and not even by similar-looking or similar-talking actors. So you have a new motley crew and they're all inferior. Obviously the plot and political message is good but the acting is mostly not good apart from Hank Rearden's wife in the second installment. The movie seemed completely detached from the first despite it being a continuation of the plot; hence, this was a trilogy that didn't need to be a trilogy. There didn't need to be a second sex scene between Hank and Dagney, for example. Even the ledger narration was in different font and style from the first movie from the previous year which was stupid. Little things like that. Did like a few things shown like the protestors having signs ranging from "will comply with 10-289 for food" and "who is John Galt" graffiti, but overall this movie, as the longest in the three installments, was a disappointment especially as a continuation to the first.

Atlas Shrugged Part II: 5/10. Umm... Now suddenly you get a THIRD complete and entire cast (!!!) in three movies, which is stupid. Dagney all of a sudden looks 22 years old and Francisco goes from being one of her exes from her youth and still-friends to having a Mexican accent and looking old enough to be her grandpa. I like the casting of John Galt, but he looks nothing like he did in either of the first two episodes and they completely butchered the opening scene of Galt pulling Dagney from the plane crash. They completely butchered the romance element of the story and essentially left Rearden out of the final installment. The moment of Galt shutting down president Thompson's speech with technology and talking to the public was pretty epic, but a little far fetched that a government that strong couldn't or wouldn't stop that in its tracks, and the whole scene at the end was unlikely. Ultimately this was the worst and worst-acted installment in the trilogy that didn't need to be a trilogy, and it's a shame.

The original Atlas Shrugged book by Ayn Rand is a solid 10/10.... and I'm as tough of a grader as it gets. Must-read.

The movie(s) deserves a re-make.... and preferably into one, longer, epic movie, with an A-list cast and solid supporting characters.

Probably the marathoning of the movies last night until 6:40AM, and not waking up until after noon today wasn't worth it, but it's been on my bucket list for years and my mom's too and we wanted to get that done and out of the way.

Just prepare for all your favorite characters to be race and gender swapped to appease the almighty ESG score of whatever film studio's parent company financed the remake.

well in that case it would be a zero if it doesn't follow the lore of the book.

Not out yet, but saw this trailer. Thought it looked like a piece of crap and nowhere near as scary or boundary breaking as the original and I usually am whatever to these reboots. I guess audiences still find this Conjuring rehashes scary.

There was a trans-actress that played a Barbie in the movie.

    yuck...

but honestly, live and let live

It was brutal to sit through 3 hours of what should have easily been max 100 minutes. Great acting all around but the film itself was boring. The constant ominous music tricks you into thinking something important is happening but really nothing. No real intrigue like I was expecting and not as much bomb testing either. Seemed like it just a bunch of meetings with a naked Florence Pugh mixed in to help keep you awake.

Not a bad movie, not a great movie, will forget about it in a week and never watch again.

You'd be better off reading Demian by Hesse than that libertarian Rand garbage. As John Rogers said:

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

This is my main problem with Chistopher Nolan movies. They're always a decent enough story, usually with a great cast and filmmaking but I can't think of a single movie of his I've watched more than once besides his Batman movies. Pretty much what you said, forget about them in a week and never watch them again.

Read both of those multiple times well before I was 14

And whoever John Rogers is.... that seems like a hot left-wing take

the left wants to cancel LOTR too because Tolkien was a conservative, even though he was also a naturist/environmentalist to an extent.

Anyone who calls Ayn Rand and Libertarianism garbage is a dirty Communist. A termite.

Though, I wish the Libertarian Party specifically, would refrain from being on the ballot in major elections in acknowledgement that their presence on the ticket helps the worse of the two evils in a two-party nation get elected.

    WELCOME BACK Dale

We're going to need you for 2024.
Good to be back, MM. Like Bruno Sammartino used to do; I too have been touring orient.

I don't hold out much hope '24, MM. And I fear the aftermath of that election. He won't stay. He'll resign within 90 days of being sworn for the last time/health and be feted like a national hero. Harris will go in there, get his second 4 years, 8 of her own, I and wouldn't be a bit surprised if (they) didn't finagle/jam Hillary in as the VP. They'll maintain both Houses, go after Judge Thomas like the last pork chop on the plate, Judge Roberts will immediately make an extremely hard Left with nary pretense this time, and the jig will be up. Too many RINOs for us, MM. They burrowed underground like the vermin they are when Trump was in there, but once he is dispatched it is Katie bar the door.

Bad times is comin', my friend, been comin' since Trump saw his chance, took it and made President...like Sutherland' "Ace" attests at the last...-Stand by Me-..."If you think we're gonna forget this, you're wrong. This is big time, baby."
