Ukrainian light infantry has advanced to positions beyond anti-tank ditches and dragon’s teeth anti-tank obstacles that comprise the current Russian defensive layer ahead of the Ukrainian advance in western Zaporizhia Oblast, and Ukrainian forces likely intend to hold those positions. ISW is not prepared to assess that Ukrainian forces have breached this Russian defensive layer in the absence of observed Ukrainian heavy equipment in these areas. Geolocated footage published on September 4 indicates that Ukrainian forces advanced to tree-line positions that are east of the Russian anti-tank ditches and dragon’s teeth obstacles that are a part of a tri-layered defense immediately west of Verbove (18km southeast of Orikhiv).[1] Geolocated footage published on September 4 indicates that Ukrainian light infantry has also advanced further into a series of prepared Russian defensive positions along the road that runs northwest into Verbove.[2] Other geolocated footage published on September 4 indicates that Ukrainian forces have advanced up to Russian defensive positions between Robotyne (10km south of Orikhiv) and Novoprokopivka (13km south of Orikhiv).[3] Ukrainian forces are widening the breach they have already made in one Russian defensive layer and are reportedly maneuvering more equipment and personnel into tactical rear areas of this layer.[4] Ukrainian forces appear to be making gains in the immediate vicinity of the not-yet-breached Russian defensive layer that runs northwest of Verbove to north of Solodka Balka (20km south of Orikhiv) with infantry assaults and heavy artillery fire on Russian positions further into and south of this layer.[5] The deployment of Ukrainian heavy equipment and more substantial forces to these areas than ISW has so far observed would indicate both a breach of this Russian defensive layer and an effort to widen that breach.

Weaker defenses and fewer mines after this point. Ukrainian armor will soon come out to do Ukranian armor things.

Yup, they are getting closer and closer to being able to roll up the front in both directions.

It’s their decision to fight or not. I just don’t want us to pay another $50 billion or more for it. Who controls zaporizhzhia oblast is not a top priority for most Americans.

The narrative that Americans do not care about Ukrainian outcomes just does not bear out. It's been almost 2 years and news and social media on the subject is consumed at a very high rate.

Culturally, we have been conditioned to oppose Russia for 80 years. The Russia love narrative from the party of Reagan is both ironic and a new phenomenon that began with Trump and the politics surrounding his initial campaign.

BTW according to Pew only 28%, about the margin of MAGA GOP types, thinks that we are giving too much aid.

Based upon lies created & perpetrated by the U.S. Government.

Russia saved countless American lives during II.. While we were Atom bombing by Democrat Truman: "Again." yellow people from 30k feet, Russia was butchering White Nazi's on-the-ground because we didn't do (wet work) on White people (then). America didn't do (wet work) on White people till Waco. Now? Well now it's common practice.

America made Russia their personal boogeyman 80 years ago so America could facilitate their MIC, Military Industrial Complex. 80 years ago it was a choice...Either atom bomb Russia to dust, OR, make them the boogeyman and build a MIC to bilk the American people forever.

The truth is right in front of American's face.

    Let us proceed...

& same thing with your side here, RG. I bring up Waco & Ruby Ridge, dead silence. America acts like America is different than Russia. Horse . America portends goodness, but America is just as dirty as the next asshole in the line.

This is what you are cheering:

"They beat the girls, they tortured the girls with electric current, beat them with hammers, that's the easiest thing. They hung girls. I don't talk about the food at all, because it was sour. Even the dogs are not given such food," Hanna told Ukrinform about how the women were treated.

"Those who had tattoos... they wanted to cut off our hands, cut off the tattoos, scalded us with boiling water just because you exist, because you are a marine, because you speak Ukrainian," she continued, adding that the only thing that kept her going was "the dream of returning home."

It's possible that there are dozens of blatant racist nazi types comprising 90% of GOP supporters here or the more likely possibility where there are only like 1 or 2 of you that spend a lot of time hopping from account to account so as to seem legion.

I too used to believe that, RG, but no more. It's all there and has been there since the end of the II.. We used Russia shamelessly coming out of that World War and have never stopped, because it allowed the American government to demonize them in order to put the American people under that fake yoke of threat. They/Russia saved America's ass in II.. That's the bitter truth. Russia saved America from killing the White Germans and permitted us to kill Yellow Japanese from 30k instead. Our thanks? Was to consider Russia's erasure from the earth in the immediate aftermath of II., but instead we settled for them to be our permanent (with a break here and there, like when Putin came across and danced at the White House)(when Hussein coupled with Putin to make a deal (once the election is over) to be our permanent boogeyman and reason why we needed a MIC and the American people to foot the bill, forever.

Perhaps, but the Nazi's are in Ukraine NOW and have been forever! America lost over 400k American lives fighting Nazi's in II. and now America is supporting Nazi's!

Of course. Look what happened here when COVID hit, those programs to give American businesses help were overwhelmed by theft and chicanery to the tune of billions of dollars lost forever and it's still going on. What'd America expect a half a world away? The Ukr wasn't going to steal that cash and merchandise? Ha!

& just so we're straight, children. Russia lost over 27 million lives in the rapt belief that they'd rid the European Continent of all vestiges of Nazi's in II.. 80 years later (now) the U.S. is supporting the Nazi's and Russia be damned---they're losing thousands more Russian lives fighting these Nazi s.

It'd be funny if it weren't so America, 80 years later.

    Let us proceed...
