He’ll play less than 100 minutes for the big club.

    Liar. It's very clearly a "two-way" contract.

I think the logic behind that signing (like with Rice) is: "we have already a lot of young players to develop/evaluate, let's just add some solid players for the Austin Spurs.".
Spurs have 7 young players (Wesley, Branham, Cissoko, Champagnie, Mamu, Bassey and Barlow) with some qualities but also with some doubts on whether or not they are NBA players. An important part of Wright's job this season is to decide who should be kept and who should be cut among these players.

    That's actually Pop's job.

Not a big fan of this, it's like a sign just to sign someone. We could have had a better project.

He was a knockdown shooter in college, but unperformed in Summer League explicably with the erratic nature. I’m hoping he gets his groove back, he’d be another 6’7 who can shoot.

Trust the process. I’ve been quite impressed with Spurs signings lately.

Don’t think of 2ways as Spurs projects anymore. We’ve got way too many young players and draft picks to need that. They are stability for Austin, players that can show out, and not be snatched up by another NBA team. Do you think Rice, a 23 YO player who’s college eligibility ended with being undrafted is any better?

no prob with what you say but i still think you can add someone who can play one day with the main club. I don't see that in Milner, that's my point.

Didn't impress much in summer league. Would have waited for a better player on another team to get cut and sign that guy. After all he is the 3rd 2 way contract with Rice and Barlow being the other 2 ways (who actually impressed enough during summer league. This guy could easily get cut as well of he doesn't do much in training camp.

thought rice showed a lot more ability in his limited summer league time. oddly the one thing rice didnt do well in summer league was shoot 3's, even though that was his calling card (well that and the pump fake). his ball handling/passing was better than i thought

cant say the same for Millner. he didnt really do anything that stood out. he can hit 3's though

We have 13 FRPs, ours plus traded ones, in the next 7 drafts. We don’t need 2ways as a development platform. We’re already going to be trading or releasing FRPs to make room for 15 players on our roster.

I am fine with it, complements our top guys in Austin. With 3 two-ways I think you have more continuity and control over your G-League roster. Dom forced to play the 5 as he should, you got shooting with Millner and Rice to free up Sidy and Wes.

Let's not forget that the two way contracts are mostly non-guaranteed and Spurs could cut Millner and/or Rice if a player they like is waived from another team during the preseason.

It happened last season Jordan Hall and Charles Bassey.

He could well be. This just gives him a guaranteed 75k without spending 60 days in Austin. MIA did this last year a lot. Think of it as an upgraded exhibit 10.

Looks like Bediako gets the 3rd slot. He has been seen with the guys a lot. Higher rated prospect and is even in the new practice facility visit.
