I have been impressed with Germany's contribution. I wonder if that level of support would have happened if Merkel were still in charge. She seemed like a champion of the Nord Stream 2 and the "business as usual" at ude with Russia despite the annexation of Crimea and the other things. But perhaps the war was just a deal breaker that would have changed any top leader's position there.

I believe Merkel lived under Eastern Germany. And speaks fluent Russian.

She also was considered a "friend"of Putin and other Russians in Govmt.

But she recently did admit the Misnk Accords were just a ruse to delay any fighting and just a tactic to arm Ukraine for the war that was coming.

Germany is in a very interensting position. As the Right Party which is against the war is surging in the polls.

IMO all this BS they are doing right now is out of desperatiins because these German warmongers will likely be out of power soon

That was total revisionist history by Merkel. I think she said something about "buying time" for Ukraine -- of course she did nothing with that time to help Ukraine. So it's just pure nonsense.

Disagree. US armed Ukraine heavily from 2014 on. They even built a couple of NATO bases there with lots of NATO staff. The most famous one was the NATO Naval base in Mariupol that was obliterated by Russian missiles. Who knows how many NATO staff was buried there.

All this also explain the extreme anger and hate by NATO towards Russia.

Their little sand castle was basically steped on and trampled on by Russia.

Qnd here are Merkels direct quotes:

“The 2014 Minsk agreement was an attempt to give Ukraine time,” Merkel told the weekly Die Zeit. “It also used this time to become stronger, as you can see today.”

No, we didn't. We gave some Javelins and some training. It was nothing that was going to seriously deter Russia.

    no

Rhe javelins were basically Trump admin giveaway. And yes Trump is the only president who resisted adding more aid to Ukraine. But we still did. A LOT:

    https://www.defense.gov/News/Release...0m-to-ukraine/

    https://www.npr.org/2019/12/18/78887...ine-since-2014

Since then, the United States has provided $1.5 billion in security assistance, including everything from Humvees and patrol boats to counterartillery radar and lethal weaponry such as Javelin an ank missiles.

"First and foremost, U.S. military aid represents a physical manifestation of American support, which is essential," Hodges told NPR in an interview. "No. 2, the actual capabilities have provided help: The Javelins provided a deterrent effect; the counterfire radar has helped save lives because of the early warning it provided."

U.S. assistance makes up 90% of Ukraine's foreign military aid, according to the Independent Defence Anti-Corruption Committee, a nongovernmental watchdog group in Kyiv.

I want Putin to do to these Ukrainian Nazi's PRECISELY what Russia did for the U.S. in 2 to those Nazi's. And not one bit different. Eviscerate those Nazi s on the battlefield.

You realize that $1.5 billion is peanuts in terms of military spending... Do you know the Russian military budget is?

I realize we gave a lot more in the weeks/months just before the war started but that was only after it was obvious to us that there would be an invasion, so it's not like what had been given before that was a serious deterrent. And all that was given after the war shows just how underarmed they really were.
