No, it's within 3 years, so it will apply to him at least this season because he was an AS in 2021. He'll probably never be voted or selected again.

Let's say we dont ring with him and LMA. LMA is gone. Kawhi is in the middle of a 208 million dollar contract, since he was eligible for a supermax with us and we were going to pay it. He is now on his Second major leg / knee injury on top of having a degenerative tissue issue. The only thing is he dragged the good name of the Spurs, calling the medical staff bad, lied, sabotaged a possible haul had he cooperated, etc, etc. But I’m over that. Him leaving got into the situation we were and eventually led to tanking and drafting Wemby. Getting Wemby means the basketball gods are still smiling at us, Sochan, Vassell and the bench, young and perfect timeline. The planets are aligning again. He hasn't been voted or selected an All Star since 2021, and I don't see it happening. The league basically ins uted this rule because of him. They're not going to name him a reserve or a replacement for the game. He's also kind of yesterday's news for the fans.
