Belgium commits €1.7 billion for Ukrainian aid from taxed frozen Russian assets

Belgian PM Alexander De Croo said Belgium will invest €1.7 billion in Ukraine in 2024 sourced from tax revenue generated from frozen Russian assets, as EU and G7 discuss a broader windfall levy on profits from these sanctioned assets, Bloomberg reports. Belgium also seeks to ban Russian diamonds from its markets.

The majority of the frozen Russian central bank assets, amounting to over €200 billion, are currently held in Europe, with a significant portion of them managed by Euroclear SA in Belgium. Under Belgian law, these proceeds are subject to a 25% corporate tax.

Well, then they will die. Or not… because they won’t listen.
Kinda like the Chinese now setting Putin in a high chair with a rattle.

Putin photo incoming. Will he be breast feeding remains to be determined.

A complete internal collapse of Russia? I don't see it at all.

The war would already be over if so. Instead, Ukraine isn't even close to kicking Russia out. Not even remotely close I'm sorry to say.

    No they are not. agreed.

But Russia started this thing and are paying dearly for it.
And NATO and the EU are in better shape in the long run for it. NATO now has a real reason to exist.
So it means we will still have the EU to trade with and fill in a lot of the gaps Russia has forced itself to be cut out of.
It will pay off economically. The stability of Russia is clearly going to be a problem. There is a substantial number of ultra nationalists and People who want Russia to end the war and leave Ukraine. That remains an unknown but definitely less of a threat to Europe.

As far as the huge number of Russian soldiers killed and the large number of Ukrainians citizens and soldiers killed....
Putin made that decision. And Putin continues to ask for death and he will get his wish sadly.

    Absolutely there is a link.
IRAN is supplying Russia with a lot of technology and hardware. This is not good.
IRAN also gave material and aid to Hamas and Hezbollah. They basically have a huge say in what both terrorist groups do And IRAN definitely helped plan and possibly even green-lighted the attack on Israel and all the radical music festival kids.

IRAN is a direct link. Israel is the most capable country of striking Iran weapon making and nuclear capability plans. Israel already has struck Iran for threats and missiles.

And for people that think Hamas has sympathy for the Palestinian people, you need to have your head examined.
Hamas is in this for the power the deaths of innocent Palestinians give them. The could not give a about the dying part. They thrive off of the conflict. Just like Yassir Arafat did.

NATO has had a reason to exist since its formation. But too many people simply took it for granted.

Russia was a minor trading partner, yet what it did trade with us is stuff the EU can't truly replace like refined petroleum, platinum and other raw materials. It's not a devastating loss though.

This war will NOT pay off economically at its current rate and there is hardly any guarantee that Putin will even be replaced.

    All good points imo.
Except that I believe it will pay off economically.
And I would actually not want Putin replaced by some of the ultra nationalists.
But Putin is old. He will die. I may be thinking more long term. I would rather the Russian people get wealthy over their vast reserves of minerals, farmland etc... But right now its a corrupt military minded country run by a guy who wants his old Soviet Union back. So citizens of Ukraine and Russia must suffer.
