The wind is on Spurs’ back on this, with Wemby being marketed as the next face of the NBA, until another straight out of 2K24 video game comes along. I highly doubt it. This kid is 7’4 with guard skills, charming goodlooking poster boy

also answered "yes" when asked if he wants the next 2 games to somewhat resemble expected regular season rotations. plus he wants to continue ramping minutes up leading up to the season opener. wemby played just under 20 minutes in game 1, just over 20 minutes in game 2. can probably expect ~25 minutes in game 4 and approaching 30 in game 5

so far, each of Zollins, Wemby, McDermott, Tre, Vassell have gotten 1 game off, in addition to guys like Keldon/Sochan who actually had minor nagging stuff that held them out. i dont think any of the main guys will be rested again

I expected him to avg around 14 or 15 ppg early in the season and then move that up to around 17 or 18 later in the year, but I'm realizing now that is too low.
He'll average at least 18 ppg right away and easy to imagine 20+
That likely makes him an all-star in his first year

If Banchero can average 20 ppg with under 30% 3PT shooting his rookie year, I don't see why Wemby couldn't do it.

Lets just admit it: he's a good looking dude, that counts a lot for marketability (in addition to everything else related to his bball abilities ofc). I'm convinced that helped boost Jordan's worldwide appeal (as opposed to Jabbar & LeBron).

Chinese can still be a fan even if cancelled too I guess. But government wouldn't be happy with that

I think he'll definitely be worthy of the ASG from a skills perspective, but he might struggle to put up the numbers/minutes needed to get the votes.

Spurs are actually popular in China because of all the work Bruce Bowen did over there. The Chinese vote damn near got Bruce in the all star game one year. Came in a close 3rd if I recall correctly.
