And Trump moved super fast so that CNN couldn't get, or, make a dossier to thwart this guy. It was all over in way less 24 hours.

    Trump did that.

Why do you keep using German prefixes to describe men Chris? Are you German?

I can't blame Democrats for not voting to keep Kevin as Speaker. However, "realpolitik" maybe should have played a role here... and they probably could have helped elect a moderate(ish) Republican as Speaker. But now they've ended up with someone much further to the right of Kevin.

It was something of an open secret already, but Nestor's "dad" outing the Ways and Means chairman is unintentionally amusing.

Republicans are going to expel Santos from the House next week.

Don't think for a second that many wouldn't love to do the same to Matt after the Ethics probe is finished.

I just can't listen to anything Matt Gaetz says. Most punchable face in politics right now...even over Trump.

It's not going to make any practical difference. There are no moderates. Anyone elected speaker would be beholden to your bombthrowers.

Of course there are moderates. Republicans in districts Biden won are almost all not like like this guy.

And if Democrats had helped elect a moderate as Speaker, then he/she wouldn't be beholden to the Freedom Caucus to keep the job.

The moderates got strong-armed into it and people were getting death threats from the lunatics.

The majority of the conference had their pick forced out twice by hardliners. That's why.

    Changes nothing.

There was already a "moderate" and there was no cooperation then. The entire party has been taken over by MAGA s and moderates can only fall in line.

Kevin had to stay in line because he was totally reliant on Republican votes. Dems could have had a say and then the Speaker would have been more free.

    Moderates

Hilarious that Mitt Romney who tried to end Medicare is considered the textbook 'moderate' by modern Republican standards. And McCarthy framed as a moderate is funny as .
