Thank god Austin Reaves is dropping a giant stinker and the NFL is on to prevent most sports fans from noticing this atrocity

Definitely wouldn't mind getting another high draft pick but I at least want to see Wemby win ROTY, but I'm not completely sold yet that Pop will allow that on his watch. Don't think 13-15ppg will be enough to win it against Chet who is actually being allowed to do his thing.

This team is allergic to dribble penetration on offense, and that is why we are going to be tanking for a star rock-pounder whether we want to be tanking or not. We need handles, iso scoring, meanness, and more handles.

For now, I'll just keep reminding myself that Vic is only 5 years old.

Luka and Kawhi are ridiculous matchups to be fair, but even looking at the rockets game i don’t think Sochan has had any defensive impact this year which is supposed to be the whole point of the lineup.

also hard to be sold on a defense first unit featuring keldon and collins
tbh I don't remember him being some defensive stalwart last year. My impression was always that most believe he is going to grow into a Ben Simmons type.

The team badly needs its second star to be a vet. the stupid "timeline" argument people use. The Spurs should can't just get yet another young player to tell "You're the PG" and him up. Just get a PG. I'm not against drafting one, but they aren't going to draft a bunch of starters within a few years and win with them. They're going to be a multi-generational roster as they were the entire time they were winning 50 games every year. They don't need a guy who's like 35, but they badly need an All-Star in his 30s to push everyone down the pecking order and force them to be the role-players they're meant to be.

Close game. If SA eliminates 25 of those turnovers and hits 20 of 25 shots that came from not turning the ball over, we have a tied game.

This is a reality check for many in here at Spurstalk who thought the Spurs were going to be challenging for a playoff spot.

This team still needs to add talent

Completely off topic, but fits with this: Keep an eye on Mitc after this season. Unlikely to extend, supposedly still has his heart set on New York; Knicks unlikely to be any more interested than they were with Brunson going kaboom. Nets could be, but have no clear pathway to contention.

Spurs would obviously have to get a sense beforehand if he'd be open to re-signing, but if so, Johnson, draft capital and salary relief makes sense for Cavaliers.

I still think they will. Long way to go.
We have played poorly for the majority of three games and yet we were in two of them, and even eeked out a win in one.

It's fine that there is a timeline. Vic needs time to grow and strengthen. Anyone thinking he is '03 Duncan literally right now is delusional. We haven't been determined that he touch the ball every possession, and that IS bad, but I don't know that doing so would lead to 25ppg efficiently anyway. Having a prime Chris Paul right this second might make us a low playoff seed but that doesn't mean much. We'll just draft the playmaker of the future after this season.

I will gladly eat my words given the opportunity in the future, but to me right now, Unintentional Re-Tank is in effect.

To be fair to the players though, I have doubts that they are being properly prepared. It doesn't look like a plan has failed. It looks like there is no plan, as others have said.

Young teams play well at home and are really bad on the road. Winning road games takes maturity and experience. We were spoiled with Tim, Manu, Tony, Bowen, and Green. That team would massacre this team right now. Young teams don't execute well on offense or defense. This team is going to lose a lot of games, but that is okay. Most highly talented prospects spent a few years losing before they turned it around.

I thought the effort in most of the first half was commendable. These young guys can’t overcome being the Clippers chew toy with swallowed whistles and George and Leonard hitting contested threes. That stuff makes any team run out of gas quick. Second half they gave up. I dunno if that’s Pop calling it or their immature at ude, but that’s how it falls for these young guys. If they’re still doing this nonsense by the end of the season, Pop and the front office have to take a long look at the roster and cut ties with some of these young guys that don’t have heart.
