The leadership of Russia is accountable to OTHER leadership. The Ultranationalists are still enraged by the number of Russians getting slaughtered.
Prigohzin was just one example of how the leadership is still vulnerable. But this is not necessarily good for Ukraine. Could be if enough infighting keeps up and they keep tying themselves in knots.

Imo Ukraine is absolutely capable with the right weapons in number. The Russians are sending units in WITHOUT ANY WEAPONS. z UNITS they call them. This is a sophisticated war in the air, and more like WWI on the ground until Ukraine is given the goods. In any event Russia must be stopped. And they will be. They will not get Ukraine. Unless they just nuke it.

I respect what you're saying -- I just don't think it's as complicated as that. Putin is the ultimate leader, and he doesn't appear to answer to anyone anymore. Those who disagree with him seem to go flying out of windows or share a similar fate. There's no room for dissent now. I think Russia used to be more like an oligarchy, but now it has been transformed into a straight up one man dictatorship.

Prigohzin was an exception given his role in Wagner. He always represented the best chance of a leadership change in Russia during the war. Now he is gone.

My biggest concern is that the unwillingness of Ukraine to even try to negotiate is going to end in disaster. F-16s, ATACMS and other stuff are being held up practically as wonder weapons. They are effective but they can't totally makeup for the deficit in manpower and other problems Ukraine is facing.
